It’s a no-brainer that vegetables and fruits have lots of nutrients, and cucumber is undoubtedly one of them. Which is actually what we’ll be using in this Avocado Cucumber Lime Smoothie.
Better yet? You can find cucumbers all year round, and it’s not even that expensive.
Here’s the deal:
The most significant flavor is obviously the cucumber. So, if this fruit isn’t really your type, you might be interested in the Hint of Mint Smoothie instead.
How to make the Avocado Cucumber Smoothie?
Smoothies are easy and fun to make; no wonder it’s popular. Anyway, with this recipe, start by pouring the water.
Don’t extract the lime juice just yet! Instead, start by zesting the lime!
I had an amateur hour and started with the lime juice. So, when I realized that I needed zest, I had a really tough time.
Anyway, once you’re done with the zest, you can extract the lime juice. If you already have a citrus juicer, then that’s great.
Otherwise, you don’t really need to buy one for the cucumber lime smoothie unless you’re going to make a ton of lemonades. So, to save some money, you can use your hand to catch the seeds.
Chop the cucumbers into at least 4 small pieces to fit your blender. Since they’re gentle ingredients, you don’t have to thoroughly prepare them.
The same thing goes with avocado. Just the usual way-cut in half, remove the seed and take out the fruit from its rind.
Lastly, add the black pepper and ice cubes. Then, blend for about 45 seconds or until smooth.
Finally, enjoy your avocado cucumber lime smoothie!
Btw, to achieve a smooth consistency, you might need a powerful blender. I use the Vitamix A3300, which actually happens to be Juicing Journal’s best blender of 2021.
Substitutions and Add-ins
If you don’t have lime, lemon or orange will be excellent alternatives—generally, something with a bit of acid to cut down the creaminess of the avocado.
Speaking of avocado, the best alternative for this fantastic fruit is banana. It’s also a thickening agent for smoothies, and it adds a bit of natural sweetness to the drink.
Here’s more:
You can add flax seeds, chia seeds, or hemp seeds. You might as well use this as a topping to make it look more appetizing. But, most importantly, to add more nutritional value to the smoothie.
The rest is up to your imagination, so feel free to try any combination!
