The Breville Citrus Press and Citrus Press Pro are great juicers for those wanting to only juice citrus. Citrus juicers like these Breville devices are specifically designed for reaming every last ounce of juice from citrus fruits. And these Breville citrus juicers do just that!

Breville Citrus Press vs. Citrus Press Pro

The Pro and standard versions are precisely the same except for two features: the dome and the handle. The metal-finned dome is the part that holds the fruit in place and extracts the juice. The handle is used to squeeze the fruit down onto the dome.

The pro version has an acid-resistant die-cast metal-finned dome. The standard version utilizes uses a BPA-free plastic dome. Whether you go with the pro or standard model, our testing shows the units producing the same amount of juice.

The die-cast metal will hold up better over time. But if you go with the plastic version, the handle or motor will likely wear out before the dome needs replacing.

The Breville Citrus Press Pro contains a soft grip handle and a die-cast metal dome. The standard version loses the soft grip handle and opts for a BPA-free plastic dome.

Review of the Breville Citrus Press

Now that we know the difference between the pro and standard models let’s look closer at both units’ features, functions, and overall quality.

Features of the Breville Citrus Press

The Breville Citrus Press is a simple but highly efficient citrus juicing machine – on the surface. I was surprised at how many great features this citrus press has.

Extremely Efficient

The citrus press is a highly efficient citrus juicer. Just insert the citrus half onto the dome and lightly press down on the handle. The rotating dome extracts all the delicious juice from your fruit in just a few seconds.

There won’t be any more juice to squeeze out once it is finished.

Dripless Spout

Let me tell you about the spout. Specifically, let me tell you why I both love and hate it.

The spout, as a feature, is both simple and ingenious. By flipping it up, you won’t have to worry about those last few drops of juice dripping onto your countertop after removing your catch glass.

However, the spout is secured by metal pins into the plastic housing. We have doubts about the longevity of such a design.

To maximize the lifespan of your spout, be gentle when using it!

In this photo, the spout is flipped down. When down, the juice will pour out of the basin, through the spout, and into a glass.

Dual-switch Safety

The base of this citrus press is solid, and it only takes one arm to operate. The dual-switch safety feature ensures that the cone will not spin until sufficient pressure is on the dome. This is an important feature for preventing injury and ensures more efficient juicing.

Magnetic Fruit Dome

The magnetic fruit dome is reminiscent of traditional non-electric citrus presses. It simply sets and magnetically locks into place. This means you can easily pull it off, rinse it, then continue using the citrus press. This allows you to easily switch between different types of citrus and rinse the dome between fruits to remove build-up when juicing a lot of oranges or limes.

The Breville Citrus Press is Easy to Use

Juicing citrus is extremely fast:

  1. Start by plugging in the device and turning the device on.
  2. Cut in half any citrus fruit you wish to juice.
  3. Insert the fruit face down onto the dome. You’ll notice a star-shaped piece that will help hold your fruit in place, similar to that found on your grandmother’s manual citrus press.
  4. Gently press the handle down onto the fruit (see warning below).
  5. The citrus press will automatically engage and juice the fruit once the appropriate pressure is applied.

The entire process will take only a few seconds. In less than a minute, you can extract enough juice to fill an entire cup with fresh, non-manufactured orange juice!

I want to mention here that you need to clean out the filter of pulp and seeds regularly while juicing. Each half is juiced in only a few seconds, but you can’t run a whole bushel of oranges through the Breville Citrus Press without rinsing the filter and fruit dome throughout the process.

But taking it apart and putting it back together is very quick and easy. Just make sure you turn the machine off with the switch first for safety reasons, even though the dual-switch safety feature should prevent injury.

Warning

Do not press down too hard on the handle, or it can crack!

Is the Breville Citrus Press Easy to Clean?

Unlike similar juicers, the Breville Citrus Press is easy to clean and completely dishwasher-safe. It disassembles in seconds, is easy to rinse, and cleans perfectly in the most up-to-date dishwashers without pre-soaking. For the easiest cleaning, make sure you do so immediately after juicing.

Breville Citrus Press Motorized Juicer

Breville Citrus Press Motorized Juicer

$149.95 ($9.37 / Ounce)

Just like the Citrus Press Pro, but without the die-cast juicing dome and soft grip handle. The plastic dome won't last as long as the die-cast metal version. But it's likely something else will fail on the unit before the plastic dome shows meaningful wear. This is a viable option if you are shopping on a budget.

  • Fast & Easy to Use
  • Easy to Clean
