The Chefman Electric Indoor Grill & Air Fryer is one of several Chefman Air Fryers to hit the market in recent years. My family recently needed a new air fryer and I decided to spring for an air fryer/grill combo model and eventually landed on this model.
So far, it’s kept up with my demanding use. But it isn’t without its drawbacks. Without further ado, let’s get into the review!
What Can You Cook With It?
I purchased my Chefman Electric Indoor Grill + Air Fryer about 4 months ago. The primary reason for the purchase was to write this review. It’s a good thing I enjoy playing around with kitchen gadgets.
Since my purchase, I’ve put my Chefman to work. And here are some things I’ve learned.
Grilling
My husband and I have a covered back porch with a hood. So we can grill in all but extremely inclement weather. But I know that isn’t the norm. With this smokeless grill, anyone can grill no matter the weather. The grill plate makes the beautiful grill marks you love with little effort.
There’s enough room on the grill plate to fit enough food for a family of four. I’ve found that hamburgers and chicken are both winners with the Chefman electric indoor grill. We also tried grilling steaks using the Chefman. To be honest, it was better than I thought it’d be. But if you love a good wood-fired steak, it won’t be that!
What you can cook:
- Hamburgers
- Steak
- Chicken
- Salmon
- Pork chops
- Vegetables
- And more
Air Fry
The 7.4-quart capacity and perforated air fryer basket make it quick and easy to cook delicious food for a small family.
I’ve found that thawing or putting in frozen items makes little difference. Frozen or fresh, your food will come out crispy and brown every time with little to no oil added. The removable mesh splatter shield ensures everything stays neat and eliminates smoke from splatters. The splatter shield, like every other component, is dishwasher safe as well.
My Favorite Things to Air Fry:
- Chicken Wings
- French Fries
- Pre-cooked Frozen Chicken Nuggets
- Onion Rings
Roast
Enjoy your favorite roasted meals without the heat of the oven! The roast feature cooks delicious, crispy food.
You can turn your meal into a “one pot” wonder by layering your protein and vegetables.
Put a layer of green beans and onions, shake on your favorite seasoning, and add a protein on top. Cook until done and you have a quick and easy meal with minimal cleanup.
What you can cook: Roast vegetables, chicken, pork, and more
Bake
Like many air fryers, the Chefman doubles as an oven except it heats faster. Obviously, a larger oven can’t be matched in terms of size and capacity.
One of my favorite items to bake in the air fryer is baked oatmeal. I must confess that the recipe I use adds a bit of brown sugar and chocolate chips. But my children love it and it makes for a (mostly) healthy snack or grab-and-go breakfast.
It also does some mean brownies. Cheesecake is also doable but I must admit I’ve not tried it.
Broil
I found myself not using the broil feature very much. It is useful if you want to brown chicken a little more than it does when grilling or baking. But there aren’t many recipes I make that call for the food to be broiled. So I can’t say as I can render great judgment on its ability to do so.
This Meal was Made with The Chefman Indoor Grill
We gave our very own Christen Price a chance to test out the Chefman Indoor Grill. She came up with the delicious-looking snack you see in this photo.
It consists of french fries and sweet potato chips covered in bacon and cheese. 😋

Is the Chefman Electric Indoor Grill + Air Fryer With Thermometer Probe easy to use?
The unit is quite easy to use for a number of reasons:
- The touch controls are easy to read and intuitive – simple, one-touch presets take much of the thought out of cooking
- The Chefman alerts you when the preheat is complete and when it is time to flip your food
- Included temperature probe – The unit sets a target temperature automatically so you can turn the air fryer on and work on other tasks in the kitchen without hovering over your food
How to clean the Chefman Electric Indoor Grill + Air Fryer?
This is my favorite part! All inner cooking surfaces are dishwasher safe.
The grill plate, air fryer basket, and nonstick pan can all go right in the dishwasher at the end of your meal. Quickly wipe up the unit and the cleanup is complete!
What accessories can I get with the Chefman Electric Indoor Air Fryer + Grill With Thermometer Probe?
There are no add-on accessories from Chefman for this model. Everything you need is in the box.
There are accessories from other brands to make cooking easier and more fun. Silicone liners and molds, small baking pans, and ramekins are a few things I enjoy having on hand.

Is It Worth Buying?
If you are looking for an air fryer that can cook in many ways, this is a good choice. However, if you are purchasing it solely for the temperature probe – skip it.
Unfortunately, I found the temperature probe to not always be accurate. From stopping the cooking mode before it’s reached the target temperature to incorrectly reading, you don’t want to rely solely on this feature.
If you don’t mind using an extra thermometer or your chef-style intuition, the somewhat unreliable probe won’t bother you. Despite the thermometer issues, the Chefman Electric Indoor Grill cooks quite well.
I purchased this same air fryer. I was disappointed in the size of the basket. Weren’t you? The non-stick pan is a good size, but if you are actually “air frying” something, you need the basket, right? I have not used it yet and I am thinking about sending it back. Although, I think the grill feature may be a game changer. Obviously, I am confused about this thing. What is your opinion on the size of the basket? Have you used just the pan to make anything? Thank you
