Great Buy
Cosori Pro II Air Fryer Max XL, 5.8QT

The Pro II has all the improvements of the Pro I, plus: Custom Presets, Custom shake reminder, and Improved tech which reduces cook time.

It's cooking tech has been improved, for one. This allows you to cut your cooking time on most meals by 20%. If you have to cook chicken wings and then fries using the same air fryer, this can be a big deal!

The other major improvement is to the presets. Unlike the Pro I version, each preset is customizable. So if you always add time to your vegetable preset, now you can customize that preset to add that time automatically.

The Bottom Line

The Pro II model features good improvements over the Pro I version but only at an marginal increase in cost.

Pros:
  • Shorter cook times vs to the Original and Pro I models
  • Highly rated tilted touchscreen and one-touch customizable presets for quick and effortless food preparation
  • 11 customizable recipe preset controls
  • 5.8-quart basket accommodates up to 5 servings to feed the whole family
  • Rapid 360° Air Circulation for more even cooking
  • Unique square baskets offer more useable capacity
  • Dishwasher safe & cleans easily
Cons:
  • Not smartphone or Alexa/Google Assist compatible
  • May not be big enough for large families
  • Only goes up to 400 degrees, which is not high enough for everything you can cook in your conventional or electric oven
  • Can be a bit noisy

The Cosori Pro II Air Fryer is an improved version of the Cosori Air Fryer Max XL. It doesn’t have the smart features available in the Pro II Smart, but is about $40 cheaper.

It is also important to note that some Cosori Air Fryers were recalled in 2022, and the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer is not among them. This is an efficient air fryer that is completely safe to use.

Let’s see how the Pro II stacks up vs the Pro I and Pro II smart models.

If you’re not an air fryer person yet, you’ve got to be one! And if you’ve already joined the air frying army but are still in search of the right air fryer, let me walk you through the Cosori Pro II.

Features

I recommend this air fryer as an inexpensive option with several features. Many air fryers fail to deliver, but Cosori works with expert chefs to ensure that their product performs as promised and that hundreds of chef-created recipes are available for use with their air fryers.

Here are the stand-out features of the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer.

Large Basket

square basket
Square-shaped baskets fit more than round baskets.

The large basket is the best feature of the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer. It’s not large enough to cook entire meals but I can cook enough fries, for example, for my family of four. It’s a huge time saver on busy weeknights.

Note: If you want to be able to cook entire meals in an air fryer, look at large air fryer ovens, like the Ninja DT201.

Another reason I like the basket is because of its square shape. If you are as experienced as I am with air fryers, you’ll know that square baskets fit much more than round-shaped baskets.

I love that you can cook a 5lb whole chicken or 2 steaks in this Cosori Air Fryer Oven. I can fit up to 20 wings in one basket! These are just some ideas about the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer. As you continue reading, you’ll learn about various cooking possibilities and additional air fryer features.

10 Cooking Functions/Presets

As a start to what the Cosori Pro II is capable of, this air fryer has 10 customizable presets. The details of the default time and temperatures are in my discussion of the ease of use below. Adjusting the time and temperature is possible.

Fries

Fresh french fries are the best reason to have a fryer of any kind, which is why Cosori offers one of the best air frying experiences with several chef-created recipes from from-scratch fries. The fries button works best with fresh fries. To use it with frozen fries, start with the frozen setting, then switch to Fries for the crispiest result.

Chicken

The chicken preset is functional for whole chicken, chicken pieces, or chicken wings. With customizable time and temperature, it is easy to use this feature for cooking all types of chicken. This works best with fresh or thawed chicken. To air fry chicken wings in the Cosori air fryer, you’d want to start with the Frozen button.

Toast

You can toast any bread or bagels in the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer. Typically you will fit at most 4 pieces of bread, 4 bagel halves, two split hamburger buns, or half a loaf of French or Italian bread in the basket, large as it is. I wouldn’t give up your toaster by any means, but this is a great feature for quickly toasting buns or browning sliders.

Sliders are fantastic in the Cosori air fryers, but the basket size limits how many you can make at a time.

Bake

The bake function on the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer is much more efficient and effective than on other air fryers, which is one reason I recommend it. This function turns your air fryer into a small convection oven.

But you do still have to ensure airflow. This means that your baked goods will come out best when you use the metal pan holder or skewer rack to raise up your cake pan, silicone bread, or muffin pans.

Bacon

Bacon is a curious preset on an air fryer. I have seen bacon cooked in this air fryer, and it came out perfect. That said, it took about 15 minutes of prep and cooking to make 9 slices of bacon.

I don’t know about you, but I can fry an entire pound of bacon on my stovetop in that amount of time. It doesn’t make sense to me to use this preset for making bacon unless you want a “set it and forget it” element to your breakfast preparation.

Frozen

The frozen preset is quite obviously the preset you want to use for any frozen item. You want to start any frozen recipe with this cooking function, even if you will later switch it to the Bake, Fries, Chicken, Shrimp, Seafood, or Steak options after the fact. You can also use this setting to defrost ingredients for use in cooking on your regular range.

Other Presets

Shrimp and other seafood require a particular temperature to cook thoroughly without compromising quality. The shrimp and seafood presets work for fresh and thawed ingredients.

There isn’t anything special about most of these presets. It is just a default for the typical time and temperature of these items.

Improvements vs. Pro I Model

There are several improvements with the Pro II model, aside from the fact that it is a safer and more efficient product design.

Shake Reminder

The Pro II has a customizable shake reminder, unlike the earlier version. You can turn the shake reminder on or off, even though some presets use it by default. (The presets are Shrimp, Frozen, Fries, and Vegetables.)

Removing the baskets to shake them stops the unit from operating, so there is no need to hit a button before doing so.

The basket can get heavy if you cook a lot of fries or chicken wings. If it is too heavy to shake, you should pull it out entirely and use tongs to flip the ingredients. Make sure you don’t put the basket down directly on your counter. It will be hot enough to cause damage.

Customizable Time and Temperature Settings

It also has customizable temperature and time settings. These give you unlimited cooking possibilities and a superb user experience. Changing the time and temperature is easy to do. You also now have the option of setting a time and temperature directly without choosing a preset.

Keep Warm

The Cosori Pro II model now has a Keep Warm function. This is great if you want to keep a side dish warm that you’ve cooked in the air fryer or elsewhere while your range is busy preparing the rest of the meal.

100 Recipe Cookbook

Almost every air fryer on the market has a user manual with recipes to get you started, but Cosori ensures you are prepared to use their product. A user manual and a 100-recipe cookbook come with the air fryer, which can also be downloaded from the Cosori website.

Even though this air fryer doesn’t have “smart” features, you can also get recipes for the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer from their smart app, VeSync.

Additional Accessories Available

The Cosori Pro II Air Fryer doesn’t come with any accessories, but some are available to improve your experience and the air fryer’s capabilities.

The pizza pan can also be used as a baking tray for cookies or a baking sheet for other foods. The deep oven cake pan works well for many recipes, and the metal pan holder and skewer rack can be used to raise other baking dishes off the bottom of the air fryer basket for improved airflow and more even cooking.

I have included details for these and all other available accessories at the end of this review.

What can you cook in the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer?

The 10 customizable presets and 100-recipe cookbook gives you a lot of ideas on what you can do with the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer, but here are some additional ideas on meals and dishes you can make.

In addition to the cooking presets, a Preheat function (for use with the bake function) and a Keep Warm function are available for 12 cooking programs.

But Adjusting the Time and Temperature May Be Necessary

Some recipes need a little lower or higher temperature. But, thanks to the new customizable feature, you can follow your recipe to a tee. All you have to do is manually adjust the time or temperature. However, I also found that, like other air fryers, some recipes may need a different time or temperature than when cooking in a conventional oven.

400°F (204°C) Max Temp

Did you know that the max temperature of the Cosori Pro XL II Air Fryer is 400°F (204°C)? This means you can experiment with some recipes if you choose not to use the presets.

It also means you can cook just about anything in this air fryer. Most recipes require at most 400 degrees. Those that do need more than 400 degrees, such as some frozen chicken nuggets and fries, should be started in the Cosori air fryer on the Frozen setting, then moved to the appropriate setting to finish cooking.

Preset Defaults

There are default temperatures and times for all presets, but as mentioned above these are easily customizable. The cooking programs will remember your preferred settings, so if you want to toast your bread the same every morning you won’t have to set it each time.

PresetTimeTemperature
Steak6 minutes400 degrees
Chicken23 minutes380 degrees
Seafood8 minutes350 degrees
Shrimp6 minutes370 degrees
Bacon8 minutes320 degrees
Frozen8 minutes380 degrees
Fries25 minutes380 degrees
Vegetables8 minutes320 degrees
Toast8 minutes320 degrees
Bake35 minutes300 degrees
Preheat5 minutes400 degrees
Keep Warm 5 minutes170 degrees

The preheat option is there for a reason. It is generally a good idea to preheat the air fryer before starting your recipe.

The user manual contains details on how long to preheat and for which recipes. I recommend reviewing the entire user manual, and keeping it handy until you get the hang of using this air fryer.

Cosori Recipe Resources Keep You Cooking

This air fryer comes with a 100-recipe cookbook to get you started. You can try all the recipes from appetizers, breakfast, main meals to desserts.

If you’re searching for more recipe ideas than those included in the comprehensive cookbook, you can also download the VeSync App, which has thousands of recipes available.

Here are some recipe ideas to keep your imagination rolling.

  • Southwestern Stuffed Bell Peppers
  • Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus
  • Eggplant Schnitzel
  • Honey-Roasted Carrots
  • Orange Cranberry Muffins

Okay, I know what you’re thinking:

These all sound so easy, but you want to know more about the specifics of this air fryer. We’ll get to that in the next topic.

Is Cosori Pro II Air Fryer easy to use?

First, let me tell you about the Cosori Premium 5.8-Quart Air Fryer CP358-AF controls. You’ll love the digital LED display and touch panel. You’re guaranteed a quick and easy cooking experience by touching the buttons.

Cosori Pro II Air Fryer controls

Here’s a brief walkthrough:

When you are ready to cook your food in the air fryer, ensure it is plugged in. Next, press the power button. Then, add your food to the basket. Now, select the preset by pressing the symbol.

Say, for example, you’re cooking Brussels sprouts. In this case, you should press the vegetable icon. You’ll know it’s active when the symbol lights up in blue. Finally, press the play button to begin cooking.

Isn’t that a breeze? Just check out this video testing out the controls:

The shake reminder is a convenient function that tells you when to shake or flip the food you’re cooking. It reminds you halfway through to shake the basket for evenly cooked food. Most of my recipes for this air fryer are better when shaking halfway through cooking.

I love that you have one less thing to think about. It’s all up to you. You can choose to add or remove the shake reminder by pressing SHAKE.

Another feature is the temperature unit configuration. Suppose your recipe calls for a temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius. In that case, you can easily switch the units by pressing and holding the Temp/Time button for 3 seconds.

As a result, it saves you from manually calculating temperature conversion. This gives you even more recipe possibilities.

How to clean the Cosori Pro XL II Air Fryer?

Well, you’re in luck—cleaning this air fryer is as easy as ABC! What makes this so easy is that the baskets are actually nesting. You can detach the inner basket from the outer so that it can go in the dishwasher. The exterior basket can be washed with a cloth on the exterior of the unit.

The baskets are made of PFOA-free and BPA-free non-stick materials, and they’re dishwasher safe. So, load them up and let your dishwasher wash away. But, if you prefer hand washing the baskets, you may do so using a non-abrasive sponge.

Also, you can wipe the air fryer’s exterior with a moist cloth if needed.

Watch this video and see for yourself the quick and easy cleanup.

Now that you’ve seen how easy it is to clean the Cosori Air Fryer let’s watch it at work.

The Cosori Pro II Air Fryer has 10 customizable presets: steak, chicken, seafood, shrimp, frozen foods, French fries, bacon, vegetables, toast, and bake. Plus, this air fryer has a preheat function which takes just about 2 to 5 minutes to warm up. Moreover, it has a 5.8 qt basket which fits a 5lb chicken or food for up to 5 servings.

Is the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer worth it?

Overall, the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer is versatile and easy to use, so you’ll surely get the most out of your money. In that case, I highly recommend that you get this impressive air fryer.

FAQs

Can I use aluminum foil in the Cosori Pro II?

Yes, you can use aluminum foil safely in the Cosori Pro II, but the non-Teflon non-stick coating is very effective, and lining the basket is largely unnecessary. If you decide to use foil or parchment paper for any reason, make sure they can’t blow around or touch the heating elements.

Is preheating the Cosori Pro II necessary?

Some cooking presets include preheat time, but this is only 5 minutes and you can put the food in the air fryer while it is preheating. There is also a preheat function if you want to bake with your own recipes.

Want a “Smart” Version of This Air Fryer?

You must be thinking all the Cosori Pro II Air Fryer features are great. Still, you want an appliance to compliment your smart kitchen.

Hang on to your seat because the Cosori CS358-AF, a smart variant of the Cosori Pro II, can be controlled with your own gadget.

I mentioned getting some recipe inspirations through the VeSync app. Guess what? With the Cosori CS358 Air Fryer, the VeSync app is for recipes AND remotely controlling your air fryer.

You’ll find pre-programmed recipes in the app. These recipes automatically set the recommended time and temperature on your air fryer. But, if you have your favorite recipes, you can create, save and load up your custom recipes in the app.

Plus, you can also monitor the cooking progress through the app. You’ll even receive a notification on your device when the food is ready.

The Cosori CS358-AF is also compatible with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. You can use your voice to start cooking when you’re tied up with food prep and got your hands full.

“Hey Google, Air Fry at 300 degrees for 15 minutes.”

Whoa! Isn’t that cool?
