Creamy Green Smoothie

The creamy green smoothie is the first-ever smoothie I made without any recipe guide, if I remember correctly.

I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s tasty enough to post it on Juicing Journal.

In any case, let’s make this smoothie, shall we?

How to make the creamy green smoothie?

I find it easier to start by washing your greens, just like you’re preparing it for a salad. If you’re not going to use fresh pineapple, this is the most time-consuming task (sort of).

You don’t have to dry it, so it should be easier.

Speaking of washing, (naturally) you have to wash all the ingredients.

Afterward, let’s get on with actual preparation of the creamy green smoothie.

For the cucumber, it’s a soft ingredient, so you only need to rough chop it. Also, you can just leave the rind intact. Do the same for the other fruits (if you’re using fresh ones).

As for the lemon, you can either extract the juice, which is more manageable. Or you can peel the skin, remove the seeds, and add the lemon itself to the blender.

Add the ingredients in order as listed. If you’re using frozen fruits for your creamy green smoothie, place them last. Finally, secure the lid and blend for approximately 45 seconds.

If you’re going to use kale, a simple blender might not be enough to make a “smooth” smoothie. In that case, you might want to consider investing in a Vitamix such as the A3500 or perhaps a powerful alternative blender.

Substitutions and Add-ins

You can switch the green grapes with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and needless to say, red grapes. Feel free to experiment with your favorite fruits.

Parsley and cilantro look so much alike (from afar). The taste and smell, however, are distinct. You can still use cilantro for this recipe given that the flavor difference will only be subtle.

Banana is one of the primary sources of natural sugar for the creamy green smoothie. Luckily, you can replace it with an avocado, which is sweet and thickens the smoothie as well.

The best add-ins or toppings, is without a doubt, superfood seeds—such as flaxseeds or chia seeds. Better yet? You can choose either to blend it in, or simply top it on the serving.

Just so you know, if you blend chia seeds, your smoothie might get too creamy. So if you’re going to use chia, you might want to decrease the amount of banana you put in.
