Summary
- When it comes to blend quality, both products are on par.
- If you’re looking for a quiet top-end blender, your best bet is the Blendtec Professional 800.
- Pricing-wise, Vitamix is cheaper.
- The only brand that offers smart features is Vitamix. If you’re looking for a blender that pairs with your smartphone, then you know which brand to pick.
- In terms of accessories, Vitamix has a more comprehensive selection. To be more specific, the Ascent Series is compatible with the food processor attachment, personal smoothie cup, a smaller blending bowl, and a range of blending jugs for different applications.
By now, you probably have a rough idea on which brand is the best.
To continue our journey in this Vitamix vs Blendtec discourse, let’s compare their top products. On Vitamix’s end their flag bearer is the Vitamix A3500, and on Blendtec’s side they have the Blendtec Pro 800.
Flagship Products: Vitamix A3500 vs. Blendtec Pro 800
Vitamix Ascent A3500 Smart Blender
The Ascent Series is the only smart blender in the market. The brand has an app that you can download with step-by-step recipe guides, and it also unlocks up to 17 walkaway blending presets.
You have five physical buttons for smoothies, hot soups, dips & spreads, frozen desserts, and a self-cleaning function. In the app, you’ll have access to chop dry ingredients, nut butter, foam milk, salad dressing, grind spices, baby food, marinades, frozen cocktails, make nut milk, thick dips, batter, and acai bowl.
Some of these capabilities require a specific accessory.
Apart from those futuristic features, you can operate it manually. It comes with a 10-speed dial, a programmable timer, and a pulse button to adjust the consistency of your blend.
In short, it’s a highly functional smart blender that can produce a restaurant-quality result.
Blendtec “The World’s Quietest Blender” Pro 800
Its title, “Quietest Blender,” isn’t just self-proclaimed. We’ve reviewed over a hundred household blending machines, and it really is the most silent. The closest thing to it is a Vitamix The Quiet One, a commercial blender.
We can’t compare those two as commercial blenders deserve a section of their own in this buying guide.
The Blendtec Pro 800 is currently the only household blender with a sound enclosure system, making it a truly quiet blender. To put it in perspective, you can still have a normal conversation while making your favorite smoothie.
In comparison, you won’t hear anything with the Vitamix A3500 at full speed. That is true to the entire Ascent Series. The sound enclosure really makes a big difference.
There are just two caveats to this machine. The first one is it’s twice as expensive as the Vitamix Ascent 3500, and Blendtec’s accessory catalog is pretty limited.
So we’ll give this round to Vitamix.
Budget-Friendly Option: Blendtec vs. Vitamix vs. Ninja
Let’s add Ninja to the mix since they’re a budget-friendly option with decent quality. Truthfully, Ninja may not yield the same blend quality. Still, if you don’t have the budget for a premium product, Ninja blenders are also a good choice.
Here’s the deal:
Vitamix and Blendtec also offer affordable (sort of) options, namely Vitamix E310 and Blendtec Fit. Like most blenders, the blend quality is top-notch, so we have to consider other technical factors.
Blendtec Fit Blender
The Blendtec Fit is more of a personal blender with its measly 30-ounce capacity. It has a 72-oz pitcher, but its actual operating volume is less than half its size.
But if you ask me, it’s just as powerful as the rest of Blendtec products. So, in terms of blend quality, it will certainly not disappoint. Not to mention, it’s easier to use thanks to the pre-programmed cycles.
However, if you’re looking for a full-sized countertop blender, then we might agree on the Blendtec Total Classic Blender. It’s also a cheap option, but it has way more features than the Fit variant with extra blending presets and more extended warranty coverage.
Any of these Blendtec machines doesn’t have a sound proofing system, so don’t expect it to be as silent as the Pro 800 model.
Vitamix E310 Blender
When you’re looking for a cheap Vitamix blender, the E310 will come out on top. Like the Ninja Fit, it’s also not impressive in terms of blending capacity. Its 48-oz container can only make two to three servings of smoothie.
The good thing is you can always upgrade to a bigger 64-oz tall container. As I told you before, Vitamix has a ton of accessories. However, this particular model isn’t compatible with the Vitamix food processor attachment.
Unlike the Ascent Series, the E300 line doesn’t have smart features. It comes with traditional buttons that you would expect from a Vitamix blender—a 10-speed turn dial, pulse lever, and an on/off switch.
The only downside to this product is it’s one of the loudest.
I guess this round is a tie for both brands. But if we’ll take Ninja blenders into account, it will surely win this duel as they offer a ton of affordable blending machines.
Commercial Blenders: Vitamix the Quiet One vs. Blendtec Stealth
When it comes to commercial blenders, I’ve already covered it extensively in this post. Vitamix The Quiet One, by the way, is the reigning champion. All Starbucks coffee shops use this machine.
Blendtec Stealth, however, is as silent and as capable as The Quiet One. In fact, it has more blending presets than Vitamix’s contender in the commercial space.
Here are the only significant differences you need to weigh in. You can read my full review of Vitamix The Quiet One and Blendtec Stealth 885 if you need more info.
Vitamix the Quiet One | Blendtec Stealth 885 |
$$$$$ | $$$$$ |
3 HP | 3.8 HP |
2237 Watts | 1800 Watts |
34 Blending Presets | 42 automatic cycles |
Both machines are ideal for a commercial setting. They both offer an in-counter and on-counter setup, a rinse station for easy cleanup, and an array of accessories to streamline your business operation.
At the end of the day, it’s just a matter of preference.
So, what’s better, Blendtec or Vitamix?
If we’ll sum up all the points, Vitamix scored 2/3. They tied on the cheap options, but Vitamix won the other two sections. Vitamix is currently the defacto brand when it comes to blenders. There’s no doubt about that.
Here’s a graph to back it up.
The only brand that is as popular as Vitamix is Nutribullet.
In terms of blend quality, these two brands are the proper contenders. Though Vitamix is the clear victor, Blendtec might win some points in a few aspects.
That being said, we still need to talk about a few pros and cons for both parties.
Tamper vs. Tamper-Less Design
Here’s the kicker:
The tamper-less design of Blendtec backfired since they had to make a separate container (Twister Jar) just for thick blends. In other words, that’s an extra expenditure you need to worry about.
Whereas Vitamix can handle thick blends with no problem with the help of the included tamper.
Accessories
Both have travel cup attachments, so they can double as a personal blender.
Now:
As I have mentioned, Blendtec has the twister jar that’s required for thick blends. Another noteworthy Blendtec accessory is the mini Wildside jar when you don’t need to use the full-sized jar.
Vitamix, on the other hand, has the widest array of accessories that Blendtec doesn’t have:
- Blending bowl – for single-serve smoothie bowls, small batches of baby food, dips, and salad dressings.
- Stainless steel container – long-lasting, odorless, non-reactive, and easy to clean jar.
- Dry grains container – features a distinct blade design for grinding fresh flour or any other dry grains.
- Aer container – for whipping, emulsifying, muddling, and foaming.
- Best of all: Vitamix Food processor attachment includes 2 reversible slice/shred discs and multi-use blades.
Power and blades
Blendtec has the most robust motor AND the quietest blender of all time. So, Blendtec wins this round.
Here’s the thing:
While Blendtec features blunt blades, Vitamix also does. I’m not saying it’s not sharp, but it’s not as sharp as a knife. If anything, it’s a dull blade, which is a good thing. The point is, their powerful motors are more than enough to crush and thoroughly blend the constituents.
As if that’s not enough:
These blade designs last longer than any other brand.
Speaking of longevity…
Warranty
Both have a 10-year warranty (for their best contenders), so that’s a good thing for us consumers.
However, it’s more than that.
Vitamix is the only blender brand that covers normal wear and tear for most of its products. That can mean that Vitamix trusts its product quality and that it will last for a long time.
With that said, Vitamix triumphs this round.
Smart Features
Other than the automatic presets, a programmable timer proves to be incredibly useful. Think about it, if the recipe you’re making isn’t among the presets, the walkaway feature will be pointless.
That’s where the programmable timer comes in. Even beyond automatic blend settings, you can still do the walk-away blending. Not to mention, you can effortlessly achieve perfect consistency every time!
Sadly, only Vitamix offers a programmable timer for some of their products—Vitamix A3500, Vitamix A3300, and Vitamix V1200.
Final Verdict: Blendtec vs Vitamix
With all that said, Vitamix Blenders are definitely the best overall.
Now, as I have mentioned repeatedly, you can never go wrong with either Blendtec or Vitamix blenders. That being said, the Vitamix A3500 is still our best blender of 2021.
