How to Cook Pizza Rolls in an Air Fryer

Love them or hate them, pizza rolls are quick and easy to make and have a lot of flavor. They’re perfect for an after-school snack or late-night munchies since they require very little effort to cook.

It’s true, you can cook pizza rolls in the oven or microwave, but using an air fryer can yield a crispier, more evenly cooked result.

Wondering how to get the best results every time? Keep reading to learn how to cook pizza rolls in the air fryer for maximum flavor.

Cook Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer Using These Steps

Step 1: Preheat Your Air Fryer

To start, you will want to preheat your air fryer to 390°F. You may want to skip this step, but don’t! It only takes a few minutes and it will give you the best results. Your pizza rolls will cook evenly and come out crispy and delicious.

Step 2: Arrange the Pizza Rolls

Next, arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray. You don’t want them to be too close together, as this will prevent them from cooking evenly. It is better to cook them in batches if necessary. Just be sure to leave room for air to circulate all around them.

Step 3: Cook!

Now it’s time to cook the pizza rolls. Set the timer for 6 minutes. If you have a basket-style air fryer, shake it halfway through. If you have an oven style, flip the rolls or rotate the trays at the halfway mark.

Step 4: Check for Doneness

Once the time is up, check your rolls! You should have hot, crispy rolls that are ready to eat after a short cooling period. If you have rolls that aren’t hot or crispy, cook them again for another minute or two. If you have rolls that leaked their filling, you may want to reduce the cooking time next time. See our tip below for how long to cook pizza rolls in an air fryer.

Then Enjoy!

The easiest step of all. It’s time to eat and enjoy the pizza rolls! They’re best enjoyed when they’re warm. When they’re too hot, you’ll have pizza filling burning your tongue. When they’re cold, you lose some of the crispy texture and flavor.

Cooking pizza rolls in an air fryer is a quick and easy process that yields delicious results. By preheating the air fryer, arranging the pizza rolls in a single layer, cooking them for around 6 minutes, and checking for doneness, you can enjoy perfectly crispy and delicious pizza rolls in no time.

How Long to Cook Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and cook for a total of 6 minutes. Based on my testing, follow these steps for the best results:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390° F
  2. Add pizza rolls
  3. Cook for 3 minutes and shake the basket or flip the rolls
  4. Cook for another 3 minutes

This isn’t the same instructions you’ll get from a popular brand of pizza rolls. They claim you should cook pizza rolls in the air fryer at 390° F for 4 minutes and then shake (or flip) and cook for 4 minutes more. After testing this method in an oven-style air fryer, I disagree.

When cooking for 8 total minutes, the pizza rolls became little pizza bombs with a lot of the filling on the rack instead of inside the roll. This not only leaves your children disappointed but also leaves you a nice mess to clean up.

The instructions found on a popular brand of pizza rolls…
Pizza rolls that have been cooked too long and have lost their filling.
…can create a mess in your air fryer.

When you reduce the time just a bit, you get hot, crispy rolls without them exploding. You don’t lose the filling which means happy kids and less mess to clean up in your air fryer.

Alternatively, you can cook pizza rolls in the oven or the microwave. But for the best, no-fuss results – I will reach for the air fryer every time.

The microwave creates soggy pizza rolls that no one wants to eat.

The oven cooks the pizza rolls well but it takes longer and you have to heat the entire oven to make just a few pizza rolls.

The air fryer combines the convenience of the microwave with the cook results of the oven, if not even better! The pizza rolls get very crispy in a short amount of time and other than your air fryer basket or tray, you have no cleanup.

So the next time the kids (or you!) need a quick snack and there are pizza rolls in the freezer, reach for your air fryer. One fast cook later and you’ll agree why the air fryer is the best method for cooking pizza rolls.
