The Hurom H-AA Slow Juicer is a third-generation juice extractor by Hurom. It is most similar to the It was originally released in 2017. While newer, screenless models are easier to clean and allow for a more pleasurable juicing experience, the H-AA model is still a premium juicer. If you want a premium-quality juice at a slightly more affordable price, the Hurom H-AA deserves consideration.

👍 What I Like About the Hurom H-AA

An Affordable Yet Premium Juicer

juicing screen

At an MSRP of $399, the H-AA offers considerable savings over the newer H400 model, which is priced at $549. You give up a few things to get that lower price.

The biggest are that the H-AA uses a narrower chute and a screen typical of most masticating juicers. Screens typically require a bit of scrubbing to get clean and can be painful to clean if you don’t wash your juicer parts immediately after use.

But after testing the H-AA and the H400, there is no difference in juice quality. They both produce excellent juice!

The H-AA is Versatile

ice cream

The H-AA can help you make smoothies, nut milks, and ice creams. This versatility falls in line with other premium-level juicers and the H-AA is no different.

I tested the device by dropping ice cubes of frozen yogurt and blueberries. The juice made quick work of the delicious treat.

I also soaked a bowl of almonds overnight to test its ability to make almond milk. There certainly was something pleasant and unadulterated taste of fresh almond milk.

From a user experience standpoint, I found cleanup a bit more of a challenge when trying to remove yogurt from the machine, requiring more warm water and time to loosen the yogurt from the component of the juicer than usual.

You Can Adjust Your Level of Pulp

Closeup of the H-AA strainer

The H-AA juicer contains a fine and coarse strainer. These different strainers allow more control over your pulp content than juicers I’ve tested that have only one strainer.

The coarse filter is excellent for citrus fruits and other produce where you’d like more pulp.

Alternatively, the fine strainer did a great job of rendering juice almost as pulp-free as possible.

Minimum Foam Buildup

The 17 RPM, foam spinning brush, prevents foam from building up and flowing into your juice. This was, and still in IMO, an innovative design feature. The amount of foam found in my juice during testing was negligible.

👎 What I Don’t Like About the H-AA Juicer

It Has a Tiny Chute by Today’s Standards

chute

Instead of extra-wide chutes or large hoppers found on newer juicer designs, you have a small chute based on older, more traditional designs.

We review a lot of juicers, and the newer designs are much more convenient. I had to do a bit more prep work when preparing my produce to be juiced by the Hurom H-AA because everything must be chopped into much smaller pieces.

The H-AA Uses a Screen Which Requires Scrubbing

juicing screen

The H-AA doesn’t use a single screw design like what is found on some newer Hurom Juicers. It uses a fine mesh screen instead.

While I found this juicer cleans up relatively easily, especially if you clean up immediately after use, the screen still required some vigerous scrubbing.

The Hurom H-AA had a top-of-the-line cleanup experience when it came on the market in 2017. But its lost some of its luster over time as new, more easily cleaned models have hit the market.

Other Considerations

Adjustable Pulp Feature

backpressure

The H-AA is the only Hurom juicer I’ve tested that has a small lever, which allows you to better control the amount of pulp that flows into your juice.

Some Hurom juicers need to allow you the ability to control pulp. But the Hurom H-AA gives you more control versus any other Hurom juicer I’ve tested.

I found that with a course screen and opening up the pulp lever, I could flow a significant amount of pulp into my orange juice!

It’s An Affordable Premium Juicer

premium hurom

The Hurom H-AA is a moderately priced juicer. So, for me, it isn’t a pro or a con. However, as far as premium juicers go, the price is very attractive.

I found the fit and finish to exude quality in testing the H-AA. There aren’t any loosely fitting parts. The plastic components seem solid and durable.

But because the H-AA is an older model and design, it’s affordable as far as premium juicers go.
