Instant Pot Duo SV 6 quart pressure cooker, silver/black

Instant Pot Duo SV 60 is a Costco Exclusive product, but it may be available on eBay as a preloved item. Or, you can check out our Best Instant Pot of the Year roundup for more buying options.

The Instant Pot Duo SV, a.k.a. Instapot Duo SV or simply the IP Duo SV is a 9-in-1 pressure cooker with sous vide functionality. It’s one of their multicookers exclusive to the retail behemoth.

Looking closely at the specs, it’s like the classic Instant Pot Duo Plus equipped with nine core cooking functions and an old-school pressure release.

So yes, it’s an outdated product that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

SV means sous vide by the way. If you’re looking for a pressure cooker that offers that classy feature, here are your options: IP Pro, IP Pro Crisp, IP Pro Plus, IP Max, IP Duo Crisp, and IP Duo Plus.

Other legacy pressure cookers from the brand offer the sous vide technique, but the list above are more up-to-date models.

If you’re getting a used Instant Duo SV instead of the newer electric pressure cookers I mentioned, we need to discuss its pros and cons.

  • Classic design
  • 9-in-1 appliance
  • 14 easy to use programs
  • Saves your program settings
  • Adjustable settings (Celsius or Fahrenheit for sous vide, sound)
  • Delay cooking + keep warm
  • 6 quarts capacity
  • Durable stainless steel pot
  • PFOA, BPA-free
  • Dishwasher safe lid and pot for easy cleaning
  • 1-year warranty

  • Not a recent model
  • Requires significant space on your countertop
  • Sautéing in IP is not the most convenient
  • No progress (preheat) indicator
  • Old design of the steam release valve
  • Not compatible with the air fryer accessory
  • Not available in 3-qt, 8-qt and 10-qt cooking capacity

What can you cook in the 9-in-1 Instant Pot Duo SV?

Pressure and Slow Cook

Pressure Cooked Meat

Here’s the thing:

The Duo SV Instant Pot can make endless recipes with just pressure and slow cooking. In fact, the brand’s website boasts 1,000+ recipes you can try. Better yet? With the addition of sous vide, you can further improve your home cooking by leaps and bounds.

Few specific recipe examples: corned beef, pasta, mashed potatoes, ribs, pulled pork, beef stew, whole chicken, etc.

With that said, here are Instapot Duo SV’s major cooking functions you can utilize:

slow cooked stew
porridge with blueberry and walnuts
steamed vegetables
vacuum sealed proteins for sous vide

If you’re wondering if it’s available in other sizes, sadly, there’s no 3-quart, 8-quart, and 10-quart cooking capacity offered for the IP Duo SV.

Here’s an unboxing video from BurningCereal.

The Instant Pot Duo SV is a fantastic multi-cooker with 9 significant cooking functions, including sous vide. Moreover, it’s capable of hefty portions thanks to its 6-quart capacity. Essentially, this machine replaces several appliances making it an economical deal, perfect for any budget.

Is Instant Pot Duo SV easy to use?

Despite its new primary functionality, the Instant Pot Duo SV 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker still features straightforward usability. Sure, there’s a learning curve, but the intuitive controls enable you to quickly learn the ins and outs of the multi-cooker.

For instance, the 14 smart programs cross out the guesswork. Simply add the ingredients, close the lid and vent, and select your desired program. If you ask me, that’s a lot simpler than traditional methods.

On top of that:

You can customize the said programs by pressure, duration, and temperature (sous vide). In other words, you can effortlessly achieve something beyond the available presets. It’s like thinking out of the ‘pot.’

Best of all, the machine remembers your settings. Therefore, the next time you use the same function for a similar recipe, you don’t need to adjust the settings again.

Furthermore, you have access to the manual’s pressure cooking timetable, grain to water ratios, and sous vide cooking guidelines. As a result, you can use Instant Pot with confidence.

Here’s the catch:

Since it’s an old version, the sealing vent features the former layout. Essentially, you need to manually close the vent. In addition, there’s no separate steam release valve for easier and safer operation.

You see, newer products feature automatic sealing, so forgetting to close the vent doesn’t matter. Secondly, they have a separate pressure release switch, so you don’t need to directly touch the vent. (See image above)

How to clean Instapot SV?

On a different note:

The Duo SV 60 cleans like a dream. For instance, the lid and the inner pot are dishwasher safe. In short, if you feel indifferent to hand washing, you always have the easier option.

If you’ll wash it manually, here’s a video demo:

Primarily, all you have to worry about is removing the smaller parts and the silicone ring. Plus, ensuring you don’t lose any of those parts. Other than that? It’s easy-peasy!

Is the Instant Pot Duo SV worth it?

After so many new Instapot, the 6-quart 9-in-1 Instant Pot Duo SV electric pressure cooker is no longer worth it. Don’t get me wrong, it was a capable machine (and still is), but up-to-date versions are undoubtedly a better deal.

Some examples of better Instapots you should consider: Instant Pot Duo Plus, Instant Pot Max and Instant Pot Pro Plus.
