Jack Lalanne Stainless Steel JLSS | Power Juicer Deluxe

Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Deluxe is an old product and may have been discontinued by the manufacturer. If you’re interested in a great juicing machine, here’s a list of the best rated juicers of 2020.

Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Deluxe is dubbed as Jack Lalanne Stainless Steel (JLSS) however it’s surprising that it’s not entirely stainless steel. The pulp guard, lid, and the pusher are still made of plastic. You’ll be surprised to see that the inside part of the juicing chamber is also plastic. It turns out that “Stainless Steel” was just a marketing ploy for this product.

Let’s get to the good part. This centrifugal juicer has an approximately 3-inch feeding chute. It can take whole small apples and whole carrots. You’ll have to chop anything that is bigger than that. It also features a large pulp collector for uninterrupted juicing. The 300-watt motor can help you juice soft and hard produce. It’s not that powerful but it can do the job.

Pros

  • Centrifugal juicers are fast, a huge time saver
  • ~ 3-inch feeding chute can accommodate small whole fruits and vegetables
  • It’s not as loud as other centrifugal juice extractors
  • Dishwasher safe parts
  • External pulp ejection system with large pulp collector

Cons

  • Falsely promoted as a stainless steel juicer
  • It can’t take big whole apples, so you’ll still have to cut most of your produce
  • This is a one-speed centrifugal juicer which means that this isn’t ideal for juicing leafy greens and soft fruits
  • The warranty of this juice extractor is too short
  • The manufacturer doesn’t mention if this product is BPA free or not, probably it isn’t
  • 24 hours juice shelf life

Power Juicer Deluxe Features & Product Details

Is it Easy to Use?

Generally speaking, all fast juicers are easy to use. Assembly can take in just 2 minutes. As with all Jack Lalanne juicers, you’ll have to warm this machine up for 5-10 seconds before putting in your produce. This makes it easier for the motor to reach its maximum speed to aid in juice extraction. Other things that you’ll have to take note are the filter basket and the blade. When you’re putting in your filter basket, make sure that you align the hole with the screw peg. Once you’ve attached the filter basket, you can install the blade onto it and tighten it gently using the crescent tool.

To sum it up, just take note of those things I just mentioned above, then you’ll be good to go.

Is it Easy to Clean?

The good news is all parts except the motor base are dishwasher safe. Just give all these parts a quick rinse then put everything on the top rack of your dishwasher. You can wipe the motor base with a damp cloth or sponge. The most challenging part to clean up is the filter and blade. This is true with all centrifugal juicers. You’ll have to use a brush to get rid of the pulp. Unfortunately, you’ll have to purchase it separately.

Juice Quality

Oxidation is a major disadvantage of all centrifugal juicers. The rapid spinning motion inside the juicing chamber sucks the air and exposes the juice to it, starting the oxidation process. This breaks down some of the nutrients in your juice making it less nutritious. The best way to counter nutrient degradation is to drink the juice right away.

What Kinds of Produce Can JLSS Juice?

This juicing machine will best perform on hard produce and citrus fruits (peeled).

Hard Produce such as beets, carrots, apple, asparagus, pear, pineapple, watermelon, bitter gourd, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cilantro, cucumber, fennel bulb, garlic, ginger, pepper, pumpkin, sweet potato, and turmeric.

Citrus fruits such as grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, orange, and mandarin.

Can Jack Lalanne Stainless Steel Juice Leafy Greens, Soft Fruits and Nuts?

While there are techniques out there to process leafy greens on high-speed juicers, it’s not efficient and not as easy as cold press juicers. You are going to waste a lot of nutritional value trying to juice leafy greens out of this machine.

Soft fruits, on the other hand, will tend to spew out of the feeding chute and will cost you a lot of cleanup time. In addition, soft fruits will yield puree instead of juice.

Don’t even try making soy neither almond milk from this juice maker; you’re going to risk damaging your equipment.

Verdict

Though Power Juicer calls it a Stainless Steel electric juicer, well it isn’t one. Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Deluxe is clearly a plastic machine that isn’t powerful enough to go head to head with Breville juicers. Some customers point out that the juice spout isn’t big enough for whole apples. With several negative reviews, this product is something to watch out for…

Just pick another cheap juicer or look for a good centrifugal juicer.
