- New features of this updated Kuvings model include the larger, O-shaped feeding chute and the updated drum.
- The Kuvings EV0820 could be right for you as a mid-range budget masticating juicer. There is also a higher-end model, the Kuvings REVO830.
- The Kuvings Evolution Cold Press Juicer uses a slow masticating process and can handle soft and dense produce.
The Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer EVO820 epitomizes the ethic of why we juice – looking good and performing at our peak. This well-designed appliance gets some of the best juicing yields and has an extremely attractive appearance, making it a great showpiece in your kitchen.
5th Generation Juicer
Designed by Kuvings, a leader in kitchen appliances – particularly ones geared toward healthier lifestyles – the EVO820 is an excellent example of a mature technology. The EVO820 is now in its fifth generation of design. The minor tweaks made by Kuvings to an already great product have steadily increased the utility of this masticating juicer.
The latest Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer EVO820 updates include a new O-shape flip gate for the feeder chute. This makes loading larger ingredients easier. An upgraded 5th-generation drum, a safe flap gate system, and materials made of BPA-Free Tritan protect your health and the health of our planet.
Another upgrade to the 5th generation juicer is a shorter base for easier use. The previous model stood tall enough that some people had trouble using it, but this newer model has a shorter base that resolves this issue for most.
EVO820 is a Masticating Juicer
For those of you new to juicing – masticating juicers, also known as cold press juicers – are machines that slowly crush veggies and fruits. They extract maximal amounts of fresh juice from the ingredients they are fed. Masticating juicers are popular as they extract the highest amount of juice. They minimize oxidation of the extracted juice and give you the exact taste of the produce you’re drinking.
Kuvings EVO820 Juicer Features
There are a lot of great features that make the Kuvings EVO820 one of the best juicers out there.
The Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer EVO820 has a 3.25-inch feeder chute. That makes it ideal for dropping in large ingredients.
Cutting and prep work may still be needed for some ingredients. But the convenient O-flap makes it easy to pop in many of the ingredients you’ll want to juice.
The O-shaped flap gate is wider than previous models and makes dropping wider ingredients much more convenient.
Flap Gate System
Also worth mentioning is the flap gate system, which prevents the hands of small children (or just people with small hands) from entering the feeding chute. This gives parents and fans of the Final Destination movie series cause for relief. With such a large chute, I was pleased to see this safety feature.
It Just Looks Good
The EVO820 is aesthetically pleasing. A front leather pattern on the base of the juicer and the streamlined body give the juicer a luxurious appearance, and a trendy color scheme of dark gray, dark pearl red, and white adds to the elegance. That describes my Kuvings Cold Press Masticating Juicer, but there are also three other color schemes to choose from.
It also has a small footprint of just 8 x 9-1/2 inches, although its assembled height is 19 inches. This means it won’t take up much space on your counter, but it won’t fit under all cabinets when fully assembled.
Just like accessories make the outfit, the accessories that come with and are available for the Kuvings EVO820 Slow Juicer make the machine capable of so much more than your typical juicer. Best of all, some of these accessories are included in the base package.
I much prefer smoothies to juice for breakfast. The smoothie strainer allows you to make delicious smoothies thicker than just juice. You can add milk or other dairy to your smoothie when using the smoothie strainer, and it eliminates the need for a blender.
This is, in my opinion, the second best feature of this slow juicer. Because it runs at just 60 RPMs, you’ll get many more nutrients out of your smoothie when using the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer than when using a smoothie blender. This is because the higher motor speeds of blenders cause oxidation that destroys many of the nutrients you should be getting from your fresh produce.
Use the included blank strainer to make frozen sorbets that are healthier than ice cream. You don’t even need to freeze it after you make your dessert. The sorbet comes out cold, thick, and ready to eat. This is the perfect accessory for making fresh, healthy desserts for the whole family. And, again, the low speed means the dessert is even healthier.
Kuvings EVO820 Optional Citrus Attachment
The citrus attachment doesn’t come with the Kuvings EVO820, but it is available as an optional accessory. The attachment is essentially a conventional citrus juicer attachment that snaps onto the top of the juicer assembly. This allows you to get higher quality, lower pulp juice from your oranges and other citrus fruits.
The citrus attachment is completely unnecessary if you’re not finicky about pulp. You can toss whole oranges into the juicer without the attachment to make fresh orange juice, although I recommend removing the rinds first for the best tasting juice.
However, if you’re buying this mostly for making citrus juices, this attachment might be something to consider.
Specialized cleaning brushes
The Kuvings EVO820 comes with a strainer cleaning tool plus two cleaning brushes to make cleaning easier. One of the brushes is specifically for cleaning the pulp basket, which is very important for health safety. There is also a pipe-cleaner style brush to get into all the nooks and crannies. Then, of course, you get the standard cleaning brush that looks like a tooth brush that you’re used to seeing with juicers.
Often Overlooked Features
The Kuvings Evolution EVO820 Cold Press Juicer has a lot of great features that are often overlooked. Here are a few of my favorites.
- I love how quiet the 240-watt motor is on this juicer. I can make juice early in the morning without disturbing the rest of the household.
- All components are BPA-free and completely safe for the whole family.
- The compact design should fit well under most cabinets.

The Kuvings EVO820 can do more than just juice.
You can also use this juicer for making nut-based milk alternatives, sorbet, and other frozen treats. You can even make smoothies.
I recommend using one part nuts to one part water for nut milk. You should soak the nuts overnight, rinse, and use fresh water for the milk. You can also make oat milk but must use rolled oats for good results.
For the best sorbets, use very cold but not frozen ingredients. Thawing frozen strawberries to barely juicing consistency will result in a beautiful frozen treat you don’t have to freeze first to enjoy.
For smoothies, I like to use a mix of leafy greens, vitamin-rich fruits, and a banana for sweetness. The Kuvings EVO820 Whole Slow Juicer can handle them all with ease, even the leafy greens. I don’t recommend juicing just leafy greens, however. It is best to include them with other ingredients that produce more juice.
What kinds of produce can Kuvings EVO820 juice?
The Kuvings Evolution Whole Slow Juicer can handle all types of produce—soft and dense produce, leafy greens, citrus fruits, beans, and nuts.
I haven’t had a problem using the Kuvings EVO820 for anything that I want to include in my juices, smoothies, or sorbets. It handles leafy greens like a champ without clogging. If it does get clogged, an included wrench makes opening the appliance to clean it out much easier.
This juicer will even handle the densest produce, including roots like ginger. It will eat through a beet with no issues whatsoever. In short, anything with juice can be run through this juicer.
More Examples of Produce the Kuvings EVO820 Can Handle
|Apple||Pumpkin||Kale||Pine Tree Needles|
|Sweet Potato||Pepper||Spring Onion||Grapes|
Even without the citrus module, it can handle any type of citrus fruit such as lemons, mandarin, grapefruit, limes, tangerine, oranges, etc.
Using this machine, you can also puree soft produce such as grapes, blackberries, mango, melon, papaya, tomato, peach, avocado, kiwifruit, strawberry, pomegranate, and cranberries.
The only caveat is that you don’t want to put anything frozen into the juicer. It can handle dense produce, but that doesn’t mean you can add ice or frozen fruits or berries. Thaw any frozen produce before juicing or using it to make smoothies or sorbets.
The juice quality of the Kuvings Evolution Cold Press Juicer is beyond excellent. The slow masticating process and its being BPA-free equates to a glass of nutrient-rich juice that can last for 72 hours.
Oxidation of nutrients and minerals is minimal with slow juicers. Centrifugal juicers, on the other hand, are oxygen hogs. It incorporates a lot of air as it spins for thousands of RPM. This mechanism promotes the breakdown of nutrients and minerals at a significant level.
In that light, cold-pressed juice retains most of its nutrients for a more extended period of time in comparison to juice produced by centrifugal juice extractors. Thus, making it an ideal machine for juice fasting or simply if you want to save time and prepare juices in one go.
You’ll know just how good the quality of your juice is by the dryness of the pulp. You get great yield with the Kuvings EVO820 Whole Slow Juicer. The pulp is very dry, even with the densest of produce.
Is it easy to use?
Slow juicers tend to have more parts than their high-speed counterparts, but it won’t take that much time to get used to. Kuvings makes it as easy as possible by providing indicator lines that allow you to line everything up just right. It snaps together in just a few minutes, even if you have to refer to the manual during the process.
It would be helpful to check your manual when setting it up for the first time. The Kuvings Juicer EVO820 won’t operate unless everything is perfectly set in place.
Some people can find this frustrating, especially if you are new to cold press juicers and aren’t sure how they work. There’s a video below for you to see the Kuvings EVO820 in action, but even videos don’t compare to actually putting together and dismantling the juicer.
It Gets Easier
Initially, it will be tricky, but down the road, it will be a walk in the park. Still, that feature is important and protects you from harm while operating the juicer.
Preparation time is also a major concern for slow juicers. EVO820’s extra wide feeding chute can reduce that burden by accommodating larger chunks and bigger quantities of produce in one go. This can speed up your whole juicing process and make it easier to use than other cold press juicers I’ve owned.
How Hard is the Kuvings EVO820 to Clean?
Slow juicers frequently have more components than high-speed juicers, making them more difficult to assemble. It will be a little difficult at first but will become second nature as you learn the steps. After a while, you’ll probably be able to clean and assemble your EVO820 in your sleep. But it is not as easy as just popping everything into the dishwasher.
Kuvings tries to make it easier by providing you with everything you need to properly clean your cold press juicer. Keep in mind that Kuvings recommends hand washing ONLY of all parts. This is not a dishwasher-safe juicer.
I highly recommend washing your juicer immediately after finishing your juicing session before the pulp has a chance to dry on, as this can make cleaning more difficult even with the added cleaning tools. Cleaning the smoothie strainer and blank strainer for sorbets is easier than cleaning the juice strainer and pulp basket, so enjoying those treats immediately after consuming and before cleaning should still be okay as long as you clean up immediately after.

Anyone who has ever enjoyed some juice made by this remarkable machine will concur with the experts – the EVO820 is a beautifully designed, durable product.
Is Kuvings EVO820 worth it?
For juicing enthusiasts looking for a durable masticating juicer that they can depend on to generate high yields of nutrient-packed healthy veggie and fruit juice, the Kuvings EVO820 Whole Slow Juicer is a top-of-the-line product.
The thoughtful redesign of this established winner adds many helpful new features that improve the product’s utility and make it an attractive addition to your kitchen counter. If you’re looking for the luxury version of this juicer, Kuvings also has the REVO830 on sale.
Can I put whole fruits down the large chute, seeds and all?
The answer there is maybe. Soft seeds like those found in apples and oranges are okay. Cherry pits are harder and could break the machine. Peach pits and other hard seeds should also be removed before juicing. Trust me. This makes for a much more delicious juice as well.
Does the EVO820 Juice Whole Citrus Fruit?
You can throw whole limes, lemons, and oranges into your Kuvings EVO820. Remember that removing the rind on oranges gives the juice a better flavor. Orange rinds are very bitter. Lime juice and lemon juice can benefit from the rind more, especially when being used in recipes where I want the lime or lemon to really pop. The citrus attachment is specifically designed for these fruits.
