Kuvings NJ Series
Kuvings NJ Series

While Kuvings is well known for sturdy, reliable masticating juicers, it also carries a centrifugal juicer lineup— Kuvings NJ Series. This product is for those who have little time in the morning and prefer the convenience of a high-speed juicer.

What I like about this product is it comes in 7 color options and you can pick a package with a real food processor attachment.

This fast juicer comes with two adjustable speed settings. The low setting can go as fast as 9,500 RPM and the turbo mode can accelerate up to 11,000 RPM.

It handles both soft and hard produce with ease. Depending on the model, you can control it with the touch of a button or the turn of a dial (white-orange).

It is extremely lightweight, weighing on 8.5 pounds. It takes up less space on the countertop, so if you have little room to spare in your kitchen, this design works well with smaller kitchens.

This powerful electric juicer is available in two eco-friendly motor options. This juicer type only uses half of the power that other centrifugal juicers do at either a 250 or 350-watt motor, depending on your needs.

Kuvings NJ features a wide-mouthed three-inch feed chute and reduces preparation time by accommodating for whole oranges, apples, pears and more. It is capable of producing 30 to 50 cups of continuous juicing without cleaning.

It comes with a safety-locking arm that does not allow you to operate the juicer if it is not assembled properly. The 3D mesh juicing screen is constructed entirely of sturdy stainless steel.

The blades cut and grate the produce prior to forcing it against the screen to separate the juice from the fruits and vegetables leaving behind delicious pulp-free juice.

Pros

  • The Kuvings NJ Series is budget friendly
  • Seven color options
  • You can also opt for a package with included food processor attachment
  • Fast, it can juice a whole apple in seconds
  • 3-inch wide feeding chute
  • Dual speed motor accommodates juicing of both hard produce and soft fruits
  • Most of the detachable parts are dishwasher safe
  • The juicing chamber (juicing bowl, mesh screen, and cutting disk) are made of stainless steel, this means that majority of the parts that come in contact with the produce are BPA free
  • External pulp ejection for continuous juicing

Cons

  • This juice extractor is not efficient for processing leafy greens, let alone wheatgrass
  • 24-hour juice shelf life
  • Fast juicers are generally noisy, it’s not the type of machine that you can use early in the morning or late at night

Kuvings NJ Features & Product Details

Is it easy to use?

Centrifugal juicers come with few parts to clean, making them perfect for individuals who have to rush out the door for work in the morning. It is easy to assemble, taking less than a minute to put it together.

Place the mesh juicing screen into the bowl and put it together. Put the lid on and snap the safety locking arm into place. It will not allow you to turn the juicer on if you do not assemble it correctly.

Turn the machine on and wait a few seconds before putting anything into the Kuvings NJ Juicer. Thanks to the large feed chute, you can place most items into the juicer without having to pre-cut them.

However, remove large pits and peelings from many citrus products, especially if the items are not organic. When juicing other items, drop them into the chute and press down gently with the pusher.

Do not put too many down the chute, otherwise, you risk jamming the juicer.

Centrifugal juicers are not the best for juicing leafy greens or wheatgrass, but it can be done. You will need to wrap them around a dense item or roll them tightly into the shape of a cylinder before attempting to push them through.

Your flavorful juice will be expelled within seconds. Something to note about this juicer is that it operates loudly, yet quickly. It completes the job within seconds. This is the opposite of masticating juicers, which operate quietly and slowly.

Is it easy to clean?

Not only does the Kuvings NJ Series is simple to use, but also it is very easy to clean. Break it down in seconds. Most of the parts are top rack dishwasher safe, but only on a low-temperature wash.

If you wash it on too high temperature then it may warp the plastic pieces. If you’re going to wash everything in the dishwasher, rinse excess pulp and juice from the parts.

Even though most of the components are dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended. Wipe off the base with a clean rag. When washing by hand, submerge everything in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Scrub the pulp from the juicing screen, but be cautious because the blades are sharp.

Do not use harsh chemicals to clean any of the components. It is best to use a mild detergent.

Juice Quality

The best part about using a centrifugal juicer is the extracted juice has less pulp and is ready to drink in seconds. Fresh juice contains lots of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants.

The Kuvings NJ might produce some foam, just as other juicers do. If the foam bothers you, then use a sieve to separate the foam or scoop it right off of the top of the juice.

Unfortunately, with fast juicers, they tend to push a lot of air into the juice, so the shelf life is short. High rates of oxidation occur when using centrifugal juicers as a result of the oxygen reacting with the produce. It is always best to drink your juice right away.

If you’re going to store your juice, place it in an airtight, glass container. Store it for no longer than 24 hours in the refrigerator. You can juice a lemon with the peeling to help delay the onset of rapid levels of oxidation, but it is always best to drink it as soon as possible.

What kinds of produce can it juice?

This juicing machine can juice soft and hard produce, citrus fruits but it’s not efficient for juicing leafy greens (most especially wheatgrass) let alone making soy and almond milk. Your options are pretty limited to these…

Hard produce includes watermelon, bitter gourd, celery, garlic, broccoli, yakon, pumpkin, cucumber, pepper, carrots, ginger, asparagus, pineapple, fennel, turmeric, beets, pear, cilantro, apple, cauliflower, and sweet potato.

Citrus fruits include lemon, mandarin, lime, grapefruit, orange, and tangerine.

This machine will probably struggle on processing soft fruits such as avocado, cranberries, mango, peach, blackberry, grapes, kiwifruit, papaya, melon, pomegranate, and strawberry but it’s worth trying.

Is Kuvings NJ worth it?

The Kuvings NJ Series is extremely easy to use, easy to clean, and sturdy. It does a great job of juicing a variety of fruits and vegetables with the exception of leafy greens and wheatgrass.

If you think green juice will be a huge part of your juicing routine, here’s a list of juicers that can handle leafy greens.

It does produce less juice than a masticating juicer, plus the juice will not stay fresh as long. The quality of the juice is not as high as juice extracted from a masticating juice maker but is still high quality.

Additionally, fresh juice is always the best option for your health. You can prepare your juice and clean the juicer in about 10 to 15 minutes.

This juicer delivers nutritious and delicious juice even for those individuals who live busy lives and have little time to spare in the morning. It does not come with a juice jug so you will need to purchase one or something like it.

You may also find that you need to cut large apples in half if they cannot fit down the tube hole.

The three-year warranty could be a little longer but is better than other warranties on competing juicers. Overall, the Kuvings NJ Series Juicer is great for beginners and busy individuals who still take their health seriously.

Happy juicing!
