⚠️ Updated Version Alert

This review covers the first generation of this product. There is a gen 2, called the Ninja NeverClog Cold Press Juicer. I will update this review once I get the product in hand and am able to conduct a review.

Ninja Cold Press Juicer (JC101)

Ninja Juicer Pro with Total Pulp Control is the brand’s one and only contender in the juice extractor market. It looks pretty decent, to be honest. But more importantly, it’s another affordable option for budget conscious consumers like myself.

What’s unique about this product are the auger and interchangeable pulp filters. The auger of this machine has a stainless steel end, which is sturdier than a plastic one. And you’ll also get three pulp filters of varying hole sizes.

The bigger the holes are, the more pulp your juice will have. You see, the biggest criticism of juicing is the lack of fibers. With this accessory, you can have the best of both worlds.

If you’re coming from an Omega juicer, you might look for those extra food-processing accessories. Sadly, the Ninja Cold Press Juicer Pro is strictly for juicing. However, it’s as functional as any leading masticating juice extractor that excels at making green juices.

Features of the Ninja Cold Press Juicer with

Total Pulp Control

The three screens for Total Pulp Control are the highlight of this juicer, but there are some other features that make this cold press juicer unique.

Small and Lightweight

Whether you’re keeping this juicer in the cabinet or on the counter, it doesn’t take up much space and it’s very easy to maneuver. The total footprint is just under 14 x 7 x 15 inches, and it weighs about the same as a gallon of milk.

The downside to this is that the small size and weight is largely due to the fact that the machine is almost entirely made of BPA-free plastic, which isn’t as durable as stainless steel juicers.

Quiet Slow Masticating Juicer

This Ninja cold press juicer is one of the quietest slow masticating juicers on the market. This is a huge selling point for people who dislike the high pitch whirs of other juicing machines. If you live in a small apartment with others, you won’t disrupt them with your morning juicing routine.

Anti-Drip Lever

Getting more yield from your produce than you expected? If the juicing cup gets too full, you don’t have to worry about making a mess on the counter. The Ninja Cold Press Juicer has an anti-drip feature that buys you a few seconds to dump your full juicing cup into another container and replace it under the spout.

This is a nice feature that you don’t find on all juicers, but it does give you only a short window to swap out the juice cup. You can get a spare as an added accessory, or have another cup or pitcher handy while you’re juicing just in case.

Reverse Button

Image of the Start/Stop and Reverse Button on the JC101 Ninja Juicer.

There are only two buttons on this cold press juicer: start/stop and reverse. The reverse button is a somewhat unique feature of the Ninja Cold Press Juicer Pro. If the juicer starts to become clogged, you can reverse it to stop it from jamming. This also helps you get the most yield out of your produce.

Easy Assembly

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that this is an extremely easy machine to assemble and disassemble. There are indicator lines throughout the appliance and its accessories to help you make sure it’s all lined up properly for easy and effective operation.

Is Ninja Cold Press Juicer easy to use?

Masticating juice extractors like the Ninja cold press juicer are relatively simple. You only have to assemble six parts, including the motor base. If you have prior experience using a slow juicer, it’s the same.

The only challenge to slow juice extractors, in general, is the small feeding chute. This particular Ninja juicer has approximately a 2-inch opening. You need to cut your fruits and vegetables that would fit that diameter. I recommend dicing your produce to 1-inch chunks for the best results without clogging the juicer.

It’s self-feeding, but you need to give the fruits and vegetables a little push by using the tamper. Don’t get overzealous with that tamper, though – you’ll get a much lower yield from your juice. If you try to rush the process, you’ll also have a higher likelihood of the juicer becoming clogged.

I have seen this juicer operate very quickly but leave behind a lot of juice in the pulp. I have also seen this juicer run at a slow and leisurely pace, and the results were much better. Some consumers complain about the juicer clogging, even with the reverse feature. But that is more likely to happen if you rush the juicing process.

If you want to juice faster and aren’t worried about oxidation of your juice, which removes some of the nutrients, a centrifugal juicer might be more appropriate.

Operating the machine is a piece of cake. One press of the start/stop button will continuously run your machine for 12 minutes. Pressing it again will stop the motor. The reverse button is found just below the start/stop switch.

Is it easy to clean?

Thankfully the Ninja Juicer is dishwasher safe. That takes the chore out of juicing. You don’t have to wash it by hand. All the detachable parts can go on the top rack of your dishwashing equipment. However, Ninja warns you should not allow the dishwasher to run a heated dry cycle with the juicer parts inside.

The only components that require your attention are the pulp filter and spout. That is the place where fibers and residue might get stuck. On the bright side, the company included a cleaning brush for those pesky food particles.

As long as you wash your juicer immediately after using it, you won’t have any aftercare issues.

Juice Quality

The best thing about masticating juicers is juice extraction efficiency. It produces a dryer pulp than vertical slow juicers. It’s second to triturating juicers in terms of juice quality.

You’re not just getting more volume for your drink, but it’s also packed with more nutrients. So, this type of machine will pay for itself over time.

You see, slow-type juicing machines have minimal oxidation. Unlike juice extracted by centrifugal juicers, cold-pressed juice can be stored for a more extended period, three days.

What Kinds of Produce Can Ninja Juice?

The Ninja Cold Press Juicer pro can take on any type of fresh produce—dense fruits and vegetables, citruses, and leafy greens. Do not put frozen fruit into this juicer.

Dense produce includes celery, yakon, broccoli, pepper, bitter gourd, cauliflower, fennel, apple, cucumber, sweet potato, carrots, turmeric, cilantro, pumpkin, pineapple, watermelon, ginger, asparagus, garlic, beets, and pear.

You can pair any of the water-dense produce above with a leafy green like lettuce, cabbage, beet greens, peppermint, kale, basil, collard greens, spring onion, moringa, wheatgrass, dandelion greens, parsley, spinach, and brussels sprout to make a glass of green juice.

You can control the pulp content using interchangeable filters if you prefer a citrus drink. The bigger the holes are, the more pulp you’ll have in your juice. Forget Minute Maid. You can make your own pulpy juice out of orange, lemon, lime or grapefruit, mandarin, etc., all from scratch.

Remember to not to process bananas, avocados, or items that don’t contain juice.

So, it’s safe to assume that you can’t make soy or almond milk with this machine because it has no blank filter.

In short, the Ninja cold press juicer is strictly for juicing.

See the Ninja Juicer Pro in Action

Here’s a video demo of the Ninja Juicer that I thought was worth including:

Ninja Juicer Pro with Total Pulp Control is a horizontal type masticating juice extractor. It comes with a 150-watt motor that is capable of making any type of juice, be it a green juice or any basic drink. Because of its slow juicing process, the Ninja Juicer yields more juice and retains more nutrients than the competition.

Is Ninja Juicer worth it?

The Ninja Cold Press Juicer Pro with Total Pulp Control is an amazingly affordable slow juicer. I would highly recommend it to anyone, whether you’re just getting started or already a juicing veteran.
