What can you cook in PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer?
This appliance can air fry, grill, roast, and reheat like other basket-type air fryers. But, let me give you the specific presets.
*Only available on 3qt, 5qt, and 7qt versions
**Only available on 5qt and 7qt models
Some foods like fries, popcorn shrimps, or nuggets typically need shorter cooking time than larger foods like chicken, pork chop, or steak. These presets will help you get the guesswork out of the way. Essentially, they have default time and temperature settings for each food type.
It is best to shake or flip the food halfway through the cooking process for crispy and evenly cooked results. Another excellent tip for you is to add a bit of oil to food like fresh potatoes or chicken wings before cooking. This will give you golden, crispy fries or chicken wings.
If you want to do away with the presets and follow your own recipe, you may do so since the PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer has a temperature range of 180ºF to 400ºF. This allows you to experiment with your own recipes. Simply select your preferred time and temperature, and you’re one step away from that perfect meal.
Did you know that you’ll also get a recipe book with this air fryer? What a way to start with your air frying journey.
Here are some recipe ideas that were taken from the recipe book to keep your cooking ideas rolling.
- Beef Empanada
- Roast Turkey Reuben
- Peach Turnover
- Crunchy French Toast
Hmm…You must be craving some of these dishes by now.
Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. Here’s a comparison chart on how many fries you can fit on each model. Hence, you have an idea of which capacity will suit your needs.
Size | 2 qt | 3 qt | 5qt | 7qt |
Fries Quantity | 0.75lbs (350g) | 1lb (454 g) | 1.3lbs (623 g) | 1.75lbs (794g) |
Is Power XL Vortex Air Fryer easy to use?
This basket-type air fryer has digital touch screen controls. With a touch of a button, you can adjust the time and temperature or select a preset.
What throws me off, however, are the icons as presets. Suppose you’re like me, who prefer to see the text and read what preset I’m about to use. In that case, the icons can be a drawback for you.
Regardless, that’ll only be an issue on the first few uses. Afterward, you won’t even think of it as a “problem.”
Anyway, let’s get down to the operation of the PowerXL 3-qt to 7-qt Air Fryer.
Once you’re ready to cook, place your food in the basket lined with the frying tray. As soon as you insert the basket into the unit, the control panel will light up. You can use the presets by pressing the icon.
If you want to adjust the temperature, simply press the up or down symbol on the left side (the one with a thermometer icon). Note that it can be changed 5 degrees at a time.
Similarly, pressing the up or down button on the right side (the one with a clock icon) will modify the duration. You can add or decrease the timer in one-minute increments.
When you’re happy with the settings, press the power button to start the cooking process.
Now hang on…
While the air fryer is still in an active cooking cycle, you can turn off the machine by pressing the power button again or removing the basket.
It’s easier than you think.

Overall, the operation of PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer is still at a straightforward level. So, you can relax more in the kitchen!
Is Power XL Vortex Air Fryer easy to clean?
Much like all other kitchen appliances, the PowerXL Fryer needs to be cleaned after each use.
Here’s a video from the manufacturer on cleaning and caring for your air fryer:
Let’s be honest, cleaning is considered one of the most dreary tasks after cooking a meal for our family. Luckily, the Fry tray is dishwasher safe. Simply load it in your dishwasher, and that’s one task done.
On a sad note, the basket is not dishwasher safe. So, you have to wash it by hand. Use mild detergent and scrub gently as the nonstick coating can be easily scratched.
You can keep your 7 Qt PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer looking brand new by wiping it with a moist cloth. On the other hand, the interior can be cleaned with a mild detergent and a non-abrasive sponge.
You can also clean the heating elements with a soft-bristled brush if needed. Remember to let the appliance cool down before cleaning.
Pro Tip: For hard-to-remove food residue, you can soak the basket and the frying tray in hot, soapy water for 10 to 15 minutes and gently scrub off with a sponge.

Don’t take my word for it; here’s a short video demonstration from Big Shticks.
The PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer is a standard countertop appliance with 10 presets, depending on the size. The 2 qt has 4 presets, 3 qt has 8, and the 5 and 7 qt models have 10 cooking presets. These have different powers, and they are 100W, 1200W, 1500W, and 1700W, respectively.
