Vitamix Blending Cup Starter Kit
Vitamix Personal Cup Adapter

The Vitamix Cup is the next best thing you must-have for your Ascent blender. In fact, it was the most awaited accessory of Vitamix.

Now, your blender can do many things; one of them is to be a personal blender using this accessory. The question is, is it better than an actual personal blender?

In some ways, yes, but there are some conditions to be met. So, let’s see if this blender cup is actually suitable for you.

Before we begin, please note this only works with the Ascent Series and Venturist Series. If your blender isn’t part of these two series, the one you’re looking for is the Vitamix Personal Cup Adapter.

Let’s start with its positives and negatives.

Vitamix Blending Cup Starter Kit Features

What can you make with Vitamix Cup?

This cup is for smoothies in general, that’s obvious. But it’s not all there is; it’s more than that.

Vitamix Blenders are known for their high performance and versatility. That’s no different when it comes to their accessories, multi-purpose and high-quality.

One thing for sure, though, if you love smoothies, this Vitamix Cup is indispensable.

Smoothies are just one of its many uses:

Here’s more:

You can use it as a single-serve travel cup as well! The travel lid is leak-proof, and you can simply hook it to your bag, which is pretty cool. It will even fit your cup holder perfectly.

Anyway, do you like your smoothies cold? If so, then you’re in luck. The blending cup is a BPA-free insulated cup that will retain its temperature for an extended period.

On the other hand, don’t make hot soups with this container. It isn’t vented so, the internal pressure will dangerously escalate.

Suppose your purpose for this container is its smaller serving (particularly for recipes not in the list above); you’re better off with the 48-ounce (1.4 L) jar.

The recipes you can make with the personal cup are limited, given its size and primary purpose. Whereas the 48 oz (1.4 L) jar can make smaller batches and more recipe types.

For the next best thing:

You can also get the 8-ounce (240 mL) blending bowls along with it. Why? They use the same blade base, so it’ll be cheaper than to get another kit package, and you’ll have extra accessories.

The 8 oz (240 mL) blending bowl kit is something that the Legacy and Explorian series don’t have. I’d say this is a significant advantage.

If you only need small servings of dips, you can simply use the bowls. It’s more effective, and more importantly, it’s easier to clean!

This leads me to my next point:

Is the Vitamix Blending Cup Kit easy to use?

Vitamix Blending Base

Compared to the personal cup adapter, this is less challenging. Not the easiest, but more comfortable than the aforementioned.

There are two reasons for that: self-detect and arrow guidelines.

Self-detect is a new technology in the blender world, which I’ll talk about in a bit.

For now, let’s focus on how to use the Vitamix Blending Cup with ease. The mini arrow in the blade base and the container is a huge help. It will guide you on where to align them without having to guess the correct spot.

Vitamix Blending Cup Arrow

Basically, before tightening the attachment to the base, you have to align the arrows. Then, fasten it. You’ll know if it’s perfectly tight once the indicators align again.

There is also one more trick if the arrow benchmark doesn’t work for you. Here’s what you should do:

Instead of tightening it before putting it on the machine, put the blade base on the blender. Then, place the container on the blade base (try to align the arrows).

Last, while holding the blade base, fasten the cup until it’s secure enough, AND the machine recognizes your container.

That’s it! Once you get that trick, you’re all set.

Finally, the maintenance of the blending cup components is incredibly straightforward. They’re all dishwasher safe, so that’s a significant winning factor right there.

You can focus more on enjoying your smoothie than worrying about the cleanup.

Oh, actually, there’s one more thing I want to converse about. The last feature you’re gonna love is its space-saving design. How so? Well, take a look at this:

Vitamix Blending Cup vs Personal Cup

right image: Vitamix Personal Cup Adapter

It’s definitely easier to store than having a big adapter that may take a lot of unnecessary space. The blade is even compatible with the blending bowl kit, so it’s like two birds, one stone. In this case, two containers, one blade base.

Technology

Self-detect has its own advantages and disadvantages. Let’s save the best for last, so let’s start with the drawbacks.

It’s a smart innovation, but it’s far from perfect. It can get frustrating if you’re a beginner. With the Vitamix Blending Cup, there will be times in which your blender will not detect your container.

It might be because there are other self-detect containers nearby. Other times it can be that your cup is too tight or not loose. That’s why I added some tricks (under the ease of use section) to help you with this.

This also means you cannot use non-Ascent accessories. Suppose you upgraded to Ascent Series; you might have to get a new blending cup because your older accessories won’t work.

On a positive note:

This technology is excellent for safety (both for you and your blender)! It adjusts the blending time and power depending on the container you’re using. With this, your Vitamix Single-Serve will be safe from unprecedented damages and will undoubtedly last longer.

Oh, and it will result in better consistencies for your blends.

It also prevents you from unintentionally using incompatible containers that may damage your precious Ascent blender or cause any accidents. I’m sure nobody wants that!

Don’t take my word for it, watch this video:

The Vitamix Cup Starter Kit is an excellent kitchen arsenal alongside an Ascent smart blender. It includes two 20 oz (591 mL) cups and a blade base. The best thing about the Vitamix Single-Serve is the self-detect technology which improves safety even further. It can also maintain cold temperatures thanks to its double insulation trait.
