Personally, the Vitamix Food Processor Attachment is something that I would get for my Ascent series blender instead of buying a standalone food processor.
It’s a well-thought product from the brand, and I applaud them for their ingenuity.
Now, there’s a big difference between a blender and a food processor. A blender can’t mince or slice produce. Even with the lowest speed, you’ll end up with a puree.
The point is, even if your blender has several functions, it won’t replace a food processor.
On the plus side:
We don’t have to go over this debate anymore as Vitamix already bridged the gap between those essential kitchen appliances.
So why not a blender with a food processor attachment?
That’s what you’ll exactly get with this Vitamix blender accessory.
Please note that not all Vitamix products are compatible with this attachment. In a bit, I’ll tell you exactly which product it’s going to work with.
Do you want to know Vitamix’s Food Processor Features?
Let’s get to its pros and cons.
- Transforms your blender base into a proper food processor
- Apart from the traditional food processor blade it also has fine and coarse shredding discs
- Dual chute system is perfect for all types and sizes of produce
- Easier to assemble
- It comes with SELF-DETECT wireless security system
- BPA free and dishwasher safe
- 3-year warranty
- Only compatible with selected Vitamix blenders
- It cost as much as a standalone food processor
Just like a traditional food processor, this Vitamix attachment is no different. It can shred, mince, slice, and mix ingredients. With a regular container, you’re only limited to making dips and sauces.
And the good news?
This accessory comes with three blades. Apart from the generic one, you also have thin and coarse shredding/slicing discs. It’s perfect for making salads and preparing a large batch of shredded veggies.
On top of all of that, the Vitamix food processor attachment features two chutes, a smaller and a bigger one.
The smaller opening is perfect for slicing. It can stabilize fruits and veggies for more precise and even cuts. The bigger one is ideal for shredding potatoes and other larger produce.
However, is it easy to operate?
Ease of Use
What you’ll love about this Vitamix accessory is it’s relatively easy to assemble. Instead of a twist and snap mechanism, it uses a stack and lock system.
In simple terms, all you have to do is stack all the components in place, and you’re good to go. Don’t worry; it has a safety feature that prevents it from running if the parts are not locked in place.
The Vitamix Food Processor attachment works with Vitamix’s smart blender series. If your motor-base doesn’t have a button for self-cleaning, you need to install the Perfect Blend App.
Aside from the auto-clean preset, you’ll also have access to more than a dozen pre-programmed functions.
And best of all, it won’t take much of your cabinet space. It has a disc storage case that latches onto the work bowl lid, which organizes all parts in a single unit. Pretty clever, right?
Don’t buy this attachment if you don’t have a smart-system-enabled blender. It won’t work for blenders that don’t have connectivity features.
To be safe, here’s a full list of compatible blenders:
So, it’s not compatible with the Explorian and Legacy Series Vitamix products. Just stick to the list above to be on the safe side.
