What I like about the Hamilton Beach brand is it’s offering affordable juice extractors that doesn’t scream cheap. Affordable doesn’t have to look so bad, plus I’m impressed with the quality as well. This is the best one-speed centrifugal juicer that is not going to hurt your wallet, perfect for beginners.
The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth series comes in two colors, black (67601) and white (67602A).
The difference between this model and the Big Mouth Pro in terms of specifications (aside from the color and switch used) is this model doesn’t have the 20 ounce plastic juice cup included and the locking arm is made of plastic. You’ll have to use your own glass to catch your juice, but since the spout has a high clearance, I bet any standard glass would fit in it.
Similar with popular centrifugal juicers, this machine features a 3 inch wide feeding chute with extra large pulp bin for uninterrupted juicing experience. If you’re just starting out and want to try out a few recipes, this can be a great starting ground. It has a powerful 800 watt motor that can process hard produce and citrus fruits.
Hamilton Beach 67601 & 67602 features an extra large pulp bin which allows you to juice huge quantities of produce in one go.

Is it Easy to Use?
This juicing machine only have a few parts to assemble and disassemble making it very user friendly. Compared to cold press juicers, fast juicers are easier to deal with. It has an extra wide feeding chute where you can put a whole apple or carrot adding a extra level of convenience. No need to chop your produce but you may still have to consider removing seeds, peel and pits or any inedible part which may alter the taste of the juice. Having an external pulp ejection system with an extra large pulp container means that you can juice for 30 minutes without worrying about the pulp.
Is it Easy to Clean?
All the removable parts of this juice extractor are dishwasher safe but it will take just a few minutes if you prefer washing it manually. The most challenging part to deal with are the pulp bin which is pretty huge and the cutting disk / mesh strainer. As a rule of the thumb you’ll have to wash your juicer right away to prevent build up of sediments.
Here are few tips to make cleanup even more easier.
- Put a plastic bag in the pulp bin, once you’re done juicing just take the plastic bag to discard your pulp
- As long as you’re done juicing rinse off the strainer basket under a running water then use your complimentary cleaning brush to remove any pulp residue.
Juice Quality
Centrifugal juicers are fast but juice quality is a huge trade off but as long as you drink your juice right away you’ll still enjoy its maximum nutritional value. Otherwise if you want to store it and consume it in a later time, you only have 24 hours before it spoils. This is because high speed juicers promotes oxidation (breakdown of nutrients, enzymes, minerals, vitamins) at a higher level compared to slow juicers.
What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?
This Big Mouth juicer will work best on any hard produce and citrus fruits only. You can try processing leafy greens but you won’t get as much yield as you would get with cold press juicers.
Hard produce includes fennel, bitter gourd, garlic, asparagus, celery, pear, cauliflower, turmeric, carrots, cilantro, beets, apple, pumpkin, pepper, pineapple, yakon, sweet potato, broccoli, cucumber, ginger and watermelon.
Citrus fruits include tangerine, orange, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin and lime
One speed juicers are also not ideal for soft fruits, herbs, wheatgrass, pine tree needles, and it won’t help you make soy and almond milk.
Verdict
Hamilton Beach Big Mouth is a great budget juicer, perfect if you’re just getting started. It’s very easy to use and clean, packed with a powerful 800 watt motor. However, it fall short on juice quality and you’re pretty much limited to juicing hard produce and citrus fruits. Still, considering the price versus the functionality, your money will be well spent on this juice extractor.
