Containing all of the newer 2nd Generation designs, the Hurom HK Slow Juicer contains a larger chamber than 1st Generation models, holding up to 60% more liquid. It is compact, weighing only 14.3 pounds, and will accentuate any countertop with its beautiful design. It is constructed of sturdy, impact-resistant ABS plastic and comes in wine or ivory. It has been designed to extract delicious juice packed with antioxidants and vitamins using Hurom’s patented Slow Squeezing Technology (SST). The sturdy Ultem auger only rotates at 43 RPM effectively crushing and pressing the juice against a coarse or fine mesh screen in a dual juicing process for optimal juice extraction.
It is pleasurable to look at and quietly operates using 150 watts and 120 watts of power and you can operate it early in the morning while the family is still sleeping. Both strainers are composed of stainless steel and Ultem plastic. Ultem is BPA-free and eight times stronger than other plastics. It conveniently comes with a tofu press and a drying rack. The hopper comes equipped with a lid. With the spinning brush, which sits in between the bowl and strainer, you can juice easily without worrying about the build up of pulp as it wipes it away with continuous spinning.

Is it Easy to Use?
This juice extractor might take a few tries to line everything up correctly, but it simple to operate. The dual safety sensors do not allow the machine to turn on until the components are secure. The built-in cooling system prevents overheating with its incorporated heat vents and a slowly operating motor. If you’re looking to cut down juicing time, prep everything before you begin. Items like carrots, celery, and other dense, fibrous produce need to be chopped into smaller pieces, which allows for easier juicing. Celery and wheatgrass can be juiced, but will only juice optimally if you cut everything into small pieces that are less than an inch in length. Always switch the hard produce with the soft produce to get the most juice out of your ingredients. Plus, it moves the leafy greens and softer items right through the juicer bowl.
Do not use force to push an item through the juicing machine. If something seems like it does not want to catch on the twin-winged auger blades, then gently place firm pressure on the item with the pusher. Otherwise, this juicer uses the assistance of gravity to pull everything right into it for juicing. If you want to avoid stopping up the juicer, only put a small portion in at a time. If it gets jammed, turn it off, and flip the switch to reverse. Once the juicer is free of blockage, turn it back on in the normal operating direction. It has a juice cap that prevents drips from the spout and allows you to easily mix your favorite juices inside of the machine. The auto pulp control lever allows you to control the amount of pulp in your juice and puts pressure on the pulp so you can extract as much juice as possible.
Is it Easy to Clean?
As with all Hurom juicers, the parts of this juicer are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand. However, the advanced self-cleaning feature is especially handy when you finish juicing. It’s really simple. Close the juice cap, move the auto pulp lever to the “clean” function. Fill it with water and turn it on to begin pre-rinsing and removing the majority of the leftover pulp. Turn it off and allow it to drain into the sink. Remove the parts, immerse in hot, soapy water. Use the large and small brushes to thoroughly scrub the juicer components, especially the mesh screen and hard-to-reach crevices. Once you have finished, place everything on the drying rack. You can assemble everything once the parts have finished drying. Keep in mind that if you allow sediment and pulp to dry on the pieces, then it will be difficult to remove, and eventually the build up will pile on. Keep your juicer free of build up by cleaning it immediately and rigorously.
Juice Quality
By developing Hurom’s patented Slow Squeezing Technology, this dual-step masticating juicer crushes produce at 43 RPM, and then extracts juice from the pulp that is pressed against a mesh juicing screen. The remaining juice contains higher levels of enzymes and vitamins than all store bought juices. Additionally, you can taste the difference in every full-bodied, natural sip. It is high quality juice that can be stored for up to 72 hour in the refrigerator. However, you really want to drink it prior to that in order to take advantage of the nutrients and antioxidants that naturally degrade as time passes. Feel free to put it into a glass, stainless steel, or plastic container, but glass is the preferred type. Make sure to fill it up all the way to the top to push out any air left and put a tight lid on it. Finally, if you are the kind of person who does not like pulp or foam, go out and purchase a sieve to strain it from your juice.
What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?
This juice press can process all types of produce—soft & hard produce, citrus fruits, leafy greens, and some beans and nuts.
Hard produce includes celery, broccoli, turmeric, pear, garlic, carrots, ginger, beets, asparagus, bitter gourd, fennel, pineapple, yakon, apple, sweet potato, pumpkin, cilantro, pepper, watermelon, coconut, cucumber and cauliflower.
Using the complimentary coarse ultem strainer you can turn peach, pomegranate, grapes, tomato, cranberries, mango, strawberry, kiwifruit, blackberry, melon, papaya and avocado into a puree.
Leafy greens include moringa, spring onion, lettuce, spinach, collard greens, brussels sprout, dandelion greens, kale, wheatgrass, basil, peppermint, beet greens, pine tree needles, parsley and cabbage.
Citrus fruits include orange, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, mandarin, and lime.
