Omega J8003 Nutrition Center is a masticating type juice extractor with rotating speeds of approximately 80 RPM. If you are accustomed to using a centrifugal juicer then this one may not seem ideal in terms of usage time because of the slow speed. The slow rotating speed reduces heat and oxidation, which in turn preserves the nutrients in the juice. This model, being the first in the Omega masticating series of juicers, produces juice rich in antioxidants and nutrients. This single gear masticating juicer uses a two-stage extraction process. As a result, it is highly effective at extracting a high quantity of juice without degrading the quality of the juice.
This is a heavy-duty juicer, built with quality parts. With its durable auger, this juicer is capable of juicing hard items like carrots or almonds. Multifunctional, you can use this juicer for many different reasons. You can crush almonds to make almond butter. Use organic produce to create a puree of baby food. This machine also grinds up coffee beans and spices. It weighs 16 pounds. It uses 120V/60Hz and 150 watts, with a 1/3 horsepower single-phase induction motor.
Pros
- Slightly cheaper than its sibling J8005
- With lots of other functions other than juicing
- Slow juicers excel in juice quality and efficiency
- Can process all types of produce—hard produce, soft fruits, leafy greens, citrus fruits, soaked beans and nuts
- Juice shelf life can last up to 72 hours, good enough for preparing a 3-day detox diet
- Ultra quiet operation
- Dishwasher safe parts
- Automatic pulp ejection for continuous juicing
- Decade long warranty
Cons
- Masticating juicers are typically slow
- Narrow feeding chute requires extra preparation time making your juicing process even slower
- Plastic parts are not BPA free
- Juice collector doesn’t come with ounce markings
- Being white, it’s prone to staining from heavily pigmented vegetables such as beets and carrots
- The auger of this machine is not made of GE’s Ultem auger system which is not as durable as newer omega juicers, that’s the main reason why the warranty is slightly lesser than newer models
- Doesn’t come with a handle

Features & Product Details
Is it Easy to Use?
The Omega 8003 is easy to set up. Once you understand exactly how to put it together, the setup becomes extremely easy, taking mere seconds to put everything into place. Before using this juicing machine, you can place it on a layer of paper towels or a thin hand towel if you feel the noise is too loud.
Next, you need to slice up your produce into thinner pieces so they can fit down the feeding chute and into the drum. The feeding tube is only 1.5 inches across; therefore large pieces of produce will not fit down the tube. If you slice them into thin pieces, then you will not have any issues.
This juicer requires you to press on the fruit or vegetables with some pressure, but it does not make it difficult to juice. Make sure to not shove too much down the chute, otherwise it may become clogged. Simply reverse the machine to back everything up if it happens to get stuck. Omega advises against running the juicer for more than 30 minutes at a time. If you prepare your produce ahead of juicing, then it should not take you longer than five to ten minutes to juice them.
Is it Easy to Clean?
Once you have finished juicing, cleaning the Omega J8003 is a simple process. Washing it by hand takes just a few minutes. Simply rinse, place the parts in hot, soapy water, and wash them. Use the bristle brush to help remove any leftover pulp from the sieve or the juicing screen. The removable parts are top rack dishwasher safe. If you need to clean the juicer, simply wipe it down. If you are going to wash them in the dishwasher, make sure to rinse the remaining pulp from the parts. It would probably be a good idea to take the provided stiff bristle brush and scrub the screen down to help dislodge any pulp, especially citrus pulp.
Juice Quality
The Omega J8003 Juicer successfully removes nutritious and delicious juice from produce through a two-step mastication process. First, it slowly crushes the fruit or vegetables, and then pushes them against the juicing screen to filter the remaining juice. This process reduces heat friction and oxidation. This method does not damage the nutrients in your juice and increases the shelf life.
Many freshly squeezed juices spoil in less than 24 hours, some in less time than that! If you are using the Omega J8003 Juicer, then you can place your juice in a tightly sealed container and store it for up to 72 hours before drinking. Make sure to leave very little space at the top of the container to keep the air out. It is also recommended to use a glass container to help maintain the full flavor of the juice.
The complimentary blank cone and nozzles can transform this juicer into a pasta and bread sticks maker, homogenizer, grinder and a food processor.
Non-Juicing Functions
Not only it can help you prepare healthy juices, it also serves extra functions to provide variety in your juicing regimen—homogenizer, pasta maker, food processor, coffee grinder.
If you feel like eating healthy frozen desserts, feel free to freeze your juice into ice cubes then let the machine turn it into a cold healthy treat by adding milk, yogurt and other ingredients to your heart’s content. This homogenizer function can also be used to make nut butters and baby food.
Included in your purchase are nozzles that can be used to make pasta of varying shapes and sizes, you can choose between a flat or a round noodle; better yet you can add some flavor to your pasta to make a Korean style u-dong noodles. Nozzles with larger opening can be used to form bread sticks. The bad news is you still have to prepare your dough.
It can be used as a food processor to chop your meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables into fine pieces for any meal you’re planning. This mincing/grinding ability also allows you to prepare ingredients for marinades, salsas, soups, and sauces. Additionally, it can also process soaked rice and beans producing a puree-like consistency.
You can even grind your own coffee beans for a fresh cup of java with this machine. Some coffee beans (especially gourmet coffees) have higher oil content, this have to be dried overnight for easier processing.

Verdict
When the Omega J8003 Nutrition Center was introduced to the market, some individuals expressed concern over the slow operating speeds, however this should not be a concern. Since the auger operates slowly, the nutrients are not destroyed by any heat production ensuring full taste and higher shelf life. Even though this multi-functional juicer is the first in Omega’s line of masticating type juicers, it receives excellent reviews. It is powerful and solidly constructed. It extracts juice with the highest levels of nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants, along with the fullest of flavors.
Another thing to consider is that this juicer comes in white. On occasion, you might drip a little juice on it that may or may not stain the exterior of the machine. If this bothers you, then perhaps you should look at the chrome model (Omega J8005) instead. However, the Omega J8003 Juicer is less expensive. If you are on a budget and do not mind the idea of any possible stains, then this one is a good option. Really, it does not matter if you are new to juicing or a heavy-duty juicer; you cannot go wrong with it. It is easy to use, easy to clean, produces exceptional juice, and is covered by a ten-year warranty.
