The Omega J8004 Nutrition Center is the successor of the J8003 model. The auger has been replaced with a more durable GE Ultem plastic making its warranty coverage 5 years longer. So instead of 10 years, you can have a peace of mind for 15 years. Omega is by far the only juicer manufacturer that can offer more than a decade long warranty coverage.

This machine is a single gear, masticating juice extractor. As a result of the two-stage extraction process, it produces an extremely high amount of healthy juice full of enzymes, minerals, and vitamins. The auger rotates slowly at 80 RPM producing minimal foam and heat production. As a bonus, this also produces less oxidation, preserving essential nutrients in the juice.

The GE Ultem auger is eight times stronger than most other plastics. It easily crushes items such as carrots, nuts, and coffee beans. Speaking of, this juicer is capable of a variety of functions. Ever wanted to make your own nut butters, pasta, soy milk, or baby food? Well, now you can, plus grind up fresh coffee and spices. This juicer is constructed of sturdy materials weighing 20 pounds, but has a handle making it easier to pick up. It operates at 150 watts, with the standard voltage at 110-120V but you can also order it in 220V/50-60Hz.

Is it Easy to Use?

Setting up this equipment takes less than a minute to assemble once you have it figured out. Prior to using your juicer, larger vegetables and fruits need to be sliced into smaller lengthwise pieces. Since the feeding chute measures at 1.5 inches across, large chunks of produce will not fit. It is easy to operate once you begin.

It states not to leave the machine running for more than 30 minutes, so preparing your items before turning on the machine will save operation time. If you need to help some items down the tube, then use the provided plunger. Don’t put too much down the tube, other wise it may become clogged. If you find that you have clogged it, then simply push the reverse button to back up the items to remove the clog. If all else fails, take it apart, rinse, and put the parts back together again. Upon finishing, run the pulp back through the juicer to extract even more nutritious juice.

Is it Easy to Clean?

It only takes about five minutes to wash and rinse the parts of this juicer. The attachment pieces are top rack dishwasher safe, but it is better to wash them right away in hot, soapy water. Make sure to rinse them prior to washing to remove excess pulp. If you feel that you do not have a few minutes to wash the attachment pieces, then at least rinse the pieces off. It is especially important to not allow anything to harden because it makes it more difficult to clean. The cleaning brush is excellent at removing the pulp caught in the screen and sieve.

Juice Quality

This masticating juicer effectively extracts juice by crushing the items and then pressing them against the juicing screen to produce high quality juice. Reducing oxidation means the nutrients will not be damaged in the juicing process. If you are not going to drink it right away, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 72 hours in a container, preferably glass, with a tight lid. Of course, drinking it right away is the best way to absorb the highest amount of nutrients and experience the greatest flavor of the juice.

Non-Juicing Functions

Not only it can help you prepare healthy juices, it also serves extra functions to provide variety in your juicing regimen—homogenizer, pasta maker, food processor, coffee grinder.

If you feel like eating healthy frozen desserts, feel free to freeze your juice into ice cubes then let the machine turn it into a cold healthy treat by adding milk, yogurt and other ingredients to your heart’s content. This homogenizer function can also be used to make nut butters and baby food.

Included in your purchase are nozzles that can be used to make pasta of varying shapes and sizes, you can choose between a flat or a round noodle; better yet you can add some flavor to your pasta to make a Korean style u-dong noodles. Nozzles with larger opening can be used to form bread sticks. The bad news is you still have to prepare your dough.

It can be used as a food processor to chop your meat, fish, fruits, and vegetables into fine pieces for any meal you’re planning. This mincing/grinding ability also allows you to prepare ingredients for marinades, salsas, soups, and sauces. Additionally, it can also process soaked rice and beans producing a puree-like consistency.

You can even grind your own coffee beans for a fresh cup of java with this machine. Some coffee beans (especially gourmet coffees) have higher oil content, this have to be dried overnight for easier processing.

What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?

This juice press can handle hard produce, soft fruits, leafy greens, citrus fruits, beans and nuts.

Hard produce include garlic, apple, cucumber, asparagus, broccoli, coconut, pineapple, celery, carrots, bitter gourd, fennel, beets, sweet potato, watermelon, ginger, pear, pumpkin, yakon, turmeric, cilantro, pepper, and cauliflower.

Green leafy vegetables such as parsley, wheatgrass, collard greens, kale, lettuce, spinach, dandelion greens, romaine lettuce, peppermint, spring onion, brussels sprout, pine tree needles, cabbage, moringa, basil, and beet greens.

Citrus fruits like mandarin, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, orange and lime.

You can make a puree out of soft fruits such as kiwifruit, tomato, strawberry, mango, blackberry, papaya, peach, pomegranate, melon, cranberries, grapes, and avocado.

Making soy and almond milk is also possible with this juice maker.

Verdict

This multi-functional juice extractor is highly rated among other slow juicers on the market. It is fairly quiet, but if it is still too loud, place a thin hand towel under the machine to help absorb some of the noise. It is so powerful and the auger can grind up anything you put through it. Omega has an excellent reputation for producing solidly constructed, reliable juicers.

This kitchen equipment is worth investing in especially since it can complete an assortment of functions. Also, please note that the J8004 model functions similarly in all ways as the J8006, with the exception of the chrome exterior. With that said, the Omega J8004 Nutrition Center is highly rated among consumers, designed to last for years, and costs less than the Omega J8006 model, which is definitely something worth mentioning.
