Omega is a reputable masticating juicer brand, but I’m not sure if they can live up to their standards with Omega TWN30S. Twin gear juicers similarly work with masticating juicers, the only difference is it has two gears instead of just one. The precision engineered twin gear unit (as shown in the picture below) increases the efficiency of juice extraction with its very narrow clearance, great for processing all types of produce such as fruits, vegetables, wheatgrass, leafy greens and herbs.
Normally you’ll get a plastic Ultem auger with traditional masticating juicers offered by Omega but this model offer an even more durable stainless steel juicing screws. With its adjustable knob you can control pressure applied to your produce, tighten it for tough vegetables like beets and carrots and loosen it a bit for softer fruits and vegetables. The complimentary juicing screens allows you to adjust pulp levels. As long as you precut your produce in the right size preferably lengthwise, it’s going to self feed which means that you don’t need to exert a lot of effort when juicing.

This twin gear unit was designed to efficiently crush and squeeze every drop of juice from fruits and vegetables.

Features & Product Details
Is it Easy to Use?
All twin gear juicers have some degree of complexity but it will just take a few tries to get the hang of it. Some important things to remember are—you’ll have to align the twin gear unit to avoid equipment malfunction, and be sure to cut your produce in the right size to prevent jamming. Observing these will help you make the most of your juicer.
Is it Easy to Clean?
This juice extractor is not dishwasher safe but it will just take a few minutes to wash the parts manually. Omega suggests to immerse the detachable parts in warm water diluted with one or two drops of baking soda or soap for about 30 minutes. This will soften any residue build up, thus facilitating easy cleanup. The most challenging part to clean are the juicing screws and juicing screens. Since the augers are made of metal, it’s prone to corrosion so the key here is timing. It’s always beneficial to wash your machine immediately after juicing.
Juice Quality
Omega TWN30S uses triturating action when extracting juice from fruits and vegetables. It grinds and squeezes the juice out of the pulp efficiently at a rate of 160 RPM. This process contributes to low levels of oxidation preserving the nutrients, enzymes and vitamins needed by your body. Unlike Omega’s masticating juicer line up, this model make use of stainless steel augers producing juice that is fuller and richer in taste. This also accounts for the added efficiency and juice quality. Juice extracted from this machine can last up to 72 hours when stored properly.
What Kinds of Produce Can it Juice?
This juice press can handle all types of produce—soft and hard produce, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and some beans and nuts.
Hard produce includes cauliflower, apple, garlic, pineapple, sweet potato, beets, broccoli, ginger, watermelon, pepper, carrots, celery, bitter gourd, pumpkin, coconut, pear, cilantro, yakon, turmeric, asparagus, fennel and cucumber.
Examples of leafy greens are parsley, basil, pine tree needles, spring onion, peppermint, beet greens, spinach, moringa, kale, lettuce, cabbage, collard greens, wheatgrass, dandelion greens and brussels sprout.
Citrus fruits include grapefruit, tangerine, orange, mandarin, lime, and lemon.
Soft produce such as tomato, cranberries, blackberry, peach, kiwifruit, avocado, strawberry, mango, papaya, pomegranate, melon, and grapes can be turned into a puree using coarse strainer.
You can also use this machine for making soy and almond milk.
Verdict
There’s nothing breakthrough with this triturating juicer compared to other brands. Super Angel offer an all stainless steel construction which is probably the only 100% BPA free juicer in the market. Green Star juicers offer a bioceramic technology taking juice quality to the next level. Omega TWN30S on the other hand only boasts a 15 year warranty but maybe that is the ultimate selling point of this machine. The way I see it is that Omega TWN30S is a twin gear juicer made for loyal Omega customers. If you’re looking to upgrade your old masticating Omega juicer, TWN30S is definitely worth checking out.
