Cranberry Banana Smoothie

The cranberry banana smoothie recipe is so much like the strawberry banana smoothie.

Here’s the deal:

I’m honestly not a fan of cranberries, so I wasn’t sure how this would turn out. But hey, the smoothie came out okay, which is exactly why I’m sharing it with you.

So, without further ado, let’s blend it.

How to make the cranberry banana smoothie?

Sadly, cranberries are seasonal. So, if it’s not the “time of the year,” you can opt for the frozen ones from the grocery store.

By the way, if you’re only going to use frozen fruits? This may be one of the easiest smoothies to make. There’s no washing and slicing your ingredients.

It’s literally just adding the ingredients into the blender (in order). Then, blend for 45 or more seconds, and you’re done with the cranberry banana smoothie!

However, that’s also assuming that you’re going to use pitted dates or if you’re going to skip using dates altogether. You see, only high-performance blenders can handle medjool dates well. For cheap blenders, you can add other sweet fruits.

Substitutions and add-ins

Naturally, you can use any type of milk you have on hand. In fact, you can use only milk instead of half milk half water. And, it’s also true with just the water.

The dates are optional for the cranberry banana smoothie; it’s just that the frozen cranberries I got were too sour, so I had to add a different sweetener. And the medjool dates worked well. You can also test if your smoothie is good enough without the dates and simply adjust accordingly.

I don’t recommend adding more blueberries as it will make the color a bit darker. Flavor-wise, that’s no problem at all. But for food aesthetics, it won’t be as appealing.

Here’s more:

Since this is one of my post-workout smoothies, I added chia seeds topping for that extra protein.

The cranberry banana smoothie is literally a counterpart of the strawberry banana smoothie. The only significant differences, obviously, are the cranberries and the additional blueberries. So, in total, it has 6 ingredients yet still straightforward to make.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soy milk

  • ½ cup water

  • 2 bananas

  • 1 cup frozen cranberry

  • ¼ cup frozen blueberries

  • 5 Medjool pitted dried dates (optional)

Directions

  • Wash and prepare your fresh ingredients.
  • In the order of the components, place them one-by-one into your blender and secure the lid.
  • If you have an automatic smoothie setting, use that. If not, start on the lowest speed and ramp up to the max power.
  • Blend for 45 seconds or until your desired texture is achieved (depending on your blender’s power).
