Breville Juice Fountain Cold Series
Juice Fountain Cold vs Juice Fountain Cold Pro vs Juice Fountain Cold XL
Breville’s Juice Fountain Cold series are the company’s fast juicing machines that seek to replicate the low heat nature of slower, masticating juicers. There are three juicers in this series.

Variable Speed Motor | Dual Speed Motor | Dual Speed Motor |

Let’s look closer at the differences between the 3 different Juice Fountain Cold Juicers. We will start with the most expensive and go from there.
Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL Juicer
The Juice Fountain Cold XL model is the biggest and most powerful Cold Spin Juicer from Breville. It probably has the biggest chute in the centrifugal juicer market—3.5 inches. Even the largest apples would fit that humongous chute.
Not only does it have a large feeding tube, but it also has an extra-large pitcher, which can hold up to two liters of juice and a massive bin for collecting pulp. If your family loves drinking juices, you might want to consider this XL juicer.
Being in the Juice Fountain Cold family, your juice will last for three days if you’ll follow Breville’s procedure religiously. Sadly it’s the most expensive in Breville’s Centrifugal Juicer Line-Up.
Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL Juicer
- Minimal heat transfer thru Breville's proprietary cold spin technology
- Extra large chute (3.5in) and extra large juice jug (70oz)
- 72 hour shelf life
- Variable speed settings allows for juicing wider variety of produce
- The plastic components are made of BPA free materials.
- Almost all detachable parts are dishwasher safe (except for the plunger)
- Continuous juicing with external pulp ejection
- It comes with a newly designed juice nozzle for single serve juicing
- An expensive, high-speed juicer
- Not efficient for juicing leafy greens
- High RPM juicers promotes significant amount of oxidation
- Short warranty period
- Not all juice is ejected, some doesn't escape the lower basin
We don’t recommend the XL model for one primary reason: The XL Model is the most expensive model in the Juice Fountain Cold lineup. But the extras you get just isn’t worth the added cost. Save a bit of cash and go with the Juice Fountain Cold Plus, instead.
Juice Fountain Cold Plus
The Juice Fountain Cold Family is Breville’s solution to the relatively low shelf life of juice made by high-speed juice extractors.
That has been a long-standing issue for consumers, which made cold press juicers a more popular choice.
Breville claims that its proprietary Cold Spin Technology could extend the shelf life of the juice to 72 hours. That is unheard of in the centrifugal juicer market.
So, in essence, you’ll get the benefit of both worlds. You’ll get a slow juicer’s shelf life and the fast juice extraction time of centrifugal juicers.
Breville’s Juice Fountain Cold Plus is the middle child in the brand’s trilogy of Cold Spin juicers. In my opinion, it’s the best option among the three. It has a more polished design than the Juice Fountain Cold.
Breville Juice Fountain Cold Plus, by the way, is the Best Centrifugal Juicer of 2021.
We recommend the Plus model for a couple of reasons:
- It has almost all of the features of the more expensive XL model, but is less costly
- It doesn’t have as many customer complaints as the XL model
- Fast juice extraction time
- Space-saving design
- Brushed stainless steel finish
- High capacity juice jug and large pulp collector
- Equipped with Breville’s proprietary cold-spin technology which claims 72-hour juice shelf life
- 3.5-inch wide chute
- Two-speed juice extraction speed for improved juice yield and juice quality
- Plastic parts are BPA free
- Almost all detachable parts are dishwasher safe, except the food pusher
- Continuous juicing with external pulp ejection
- Safety lock mechanism
- Neatly hidden cord storage
- Not efficient for juicing leafy greens
- Short warranty period
Juice Fountain Cold
Breville Juice Fountain Cold is the very first and most affordable cold spin juicer. If you’re going to look at the Plus edition, there’s a stark difference between the design.
Juice Fountain Cold was patterned after their most popular product, the Juice Fountain Plus. The pitcher, the juicer itself, and the pulp bin were lined up horizontally. There’s nothing wrong with it, but you won’t get the space-saving benefit of an L-shaped layout like the Plus or XL model.
If you’re a savvy consumer, you might find Juice Fountain Cold the best choice. It is similar to the Plus model, but the chute drops to 3 inches instead of 3.5. It does have the same pulp bin size, the same juice jug capacity and the same speed options.
Breville Juice Fountain Cold Juicer
- Affordable price
- High capacity juice jug and large pulp collector (3.5 qt.)
- New technology allows 72 hours shelf life for your juice
- Centrifugal juicers are fast
- Extra wide chute reduces preparation time
- Two speed options maximizes juice yield and juice quality
- Stainless steel durable construction
- Plastic parts are BPA free
- Almost all detachable parts are dishwasher safe
- Continuous juicing with external pulp ejection
- Safety lock mechanism prevents unsafe operation
- Neatly hidden cord storage
- Not efficient for juicing leafy greens
- Short warranty period
What Makes Breville’s “Cold” Centrifugal Juicers Special?
With their “cold” centrifugal juicers, Breville utilizes a design that limits the heat imparted upon the juice during the juicing process.
Our testing shows that the juicer imparts about two to four degrees of heat upon the juice. This depends upon the type of produce being juiced.
Reduction of heat is important because heat and oxidation are the biggest contributors to destroying your juice’s flavor.
The Juice Fountain Cold Juicers form the core of Breville’s centrifugal juicers lineup. However, they aren’t the only options. There are also the Juice Fountain Elite, Juice Fountain Plus, and Juice Fountain Compact.
Let’s look at those models so you can see if one may be a better fit for you than the “cold” juicers we’ve already featured.
Juice Fountain Elite
The Elite Juice Fountain features a sturdy die-cast metal housing that looks and feels like an expensive juicer.
If you are choosing by looks alone–if you want a juicer that will sit proudly on your counter top–this one is it! A powerful centrifugal juicer, it easily juices dense, soft, and citrus produce. But like all centrifugal juicers, it struggles to juice leafy greens.
It does have a powerful 1,000 watt motor with two speed settings. The 6,500 RPM setting is for soft, fleshy produce while the 13,000 RPM setting is perfect for hard, dense produce.
Breville Juice Fountain Elite Juicer
- Dual speed setting, low RPM for soft fruits and high RPM for harder produce
- 3 inch wide feeding chute allows you to juice a whole apple at once
- Durable construction
- BPA free plastic parts
- Dishwasher safe parts except for the food pusher
- High capacity juice jug (1.1 quartz) and juice collector
- External pulp ejection for continuous juicing
- Built with safety features
- Cord storage is hidden neatly
- Froth separator keeps froth out of your glass when pouring
- Takes up a large amount of counter space
- Expensive
- Loud
- High-speed juicers are prone to oxidation resulting to a less juice shelf life (24 hours)
- Not efficient for juicing leafy greens
Juice Fountain Plus
The Juice Fountain Plus or the Breville BJE98XL is the former flagship product of the company. It is the inspiration for the three Juice Fountain Cold juicers.
In the height of the juicing trend, it was the most popular juicer with a starring role at Joe Cross’ Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.
Today, its legacy still lives on and remains a highly recommended product. It’s one of the cheapest Breville Juicers. It’s perfect for beginners and juicing veterans alike who want the best bang for their buck.
- It's fast
- 3 inch wide chute means less prep time
- Dual speed motor juices both hard and soft produce
- Parts are top rack dishwasher safe
- Large juice pitcher filters froth during pouring
- All plastic parts are BPA-free
- Automatic overload shutoff
- Depending upon produce, pulp is ranges from sorta dry to moist
- Generates a lot of froth
- Not good at juicing leafy greens
Breville Juice Fountain Compact
The Juice Fountain Compact measures 10.4 x 7.4 inches (26.4 x 17.8 cm). So it takes up less than 1 square-foot of your countertop.
Some centrifugal juicers within the one hundred dollar price range are screaming cheap. This one is not, it still looks professional packed with an incredible performance. If you’re in the market for an affordable centrifugal juicer, the Breville Juice Fountain Compact won’t disappoint.
Breville Juice Fountain Compact
A great brand name at an introductory-level price! The Breville Juice Fountain Compact is perfect for people with small kitchens. It doesn't have an external pulp ejection. It's internal pulp container tends to fill up quickly so it's best for single serve juicing duties.
- Juicer powers through even the densest produce
- 3 inch chute means less chopping & prep work
- Internal parts are dishwasher safe
- Inexpensive price for a Breville juicer
- Fast
- Cleans up easy even when washing by hand
- Takes up just over ½ sq-ft of countertop space
- Loud
- Oxidation & froth generation which is typical for centrifugal juicers
- Very poor at juicing leafy greens
- No external pulp ejection
The Breville Big Squeeze
Breville’s Only Slow Masticating Juicer
The Breville Brand is primarily focused on centrifugal juicers. But they actually have a solid slow masticating juicer with their Big Sqeeze!
The Big Squeeze is not just a cold press juicer; it’s a whole slow juicer. It stays true to the brand’s wide feeding chute design. And yes, it can also take on a whole apple, but it doesn’t work like a centrifugal juicer.
There’s a recommended cut for each type of fruit and vegetable.
The best part about this juicer is it doesn’t come with just one chute; it has two. The smaller one would be the best route for celery stalks and long portions of produce. In contrast, the bigger one is intended for larger chunks of fruits and vegetables.
Breville Big Squeeze (link to full review) is the most expensive in Breville’s product line up, but it’s just on par with other slow juicers in the market. It’s the only Breville Juicer that offers a decade long warranty coverage.
The Breville Big Squeeze Juicer is unique in that it has a dual chute system. There's a bigger 3-inch chute intended for whole apples and larger portions of fruits and vegetables and a smaller chute where longer items can fit, like 3-inch long sections of celery stalks.
The Bottom Line
This juicer is quiet, efficient, is affordably priced, and backed by a 10-year warranty. It also processes any type of produce. Simply put, there isn't much not to like about the Breville Big Squeeze!

The Citrus Press & Citrus Press Pro
Breville’s Citrus Press Juicers are extremely efficient at juicing all types and all sizes of citrus fruit. If juicing citrus is your main squeeze, look no further than here.
We detail the similarities and differences between the two models below. But no matter which model you go with, here is what you get with either model:
Extremely Fast Citrus Juicing – All you have to do is cut your citrus in half and them juice. Juicing of each citrus half only takes a couple of seconds!
Extremely Efficiency – Breville’s Citrus Juicers remove every available ounce of juice from citrus fruit. It is much more efficient at juicing citrus than centrifugal or masticating juicers.
Quiet – There is no electric motor; there is nothing to plug in. Just press down the level and the juice begins to flow out of the spout and into your glass!
Quick and Easy Cleanup – The unit disassembles very easily. Just a few ounces of warm soapy water, a light scrub, followed by a rinse are all that’s required before the citrus juicer is ready for storage.

Final Thoughts
As you can see, the Breville brand is heavily weighted towards centrifugal juicers. In fact, every juicer made by Breville is a centrifugal model except for 1 masticating juicer and the 2 citrus juicers that are really just one model divided into a premium and standard version.
As we said at the opening, there is no bad Breville Juicer. There are just some that are better value that others. And if you are looking for value, the Juice Fountain Plus and the Big Squeeze are going to be your best bet.
Happy juicing!
