The Nuwave Bravo is a versatile countertop air fryer oven.

If you are looking for a healthier and more convenient way to cook your food, this appliance is a great match.

The Nuwave Air Fryer Toaster Oven sitting on a counter top

The Nuwave Bravo XL 1800 Watt Convection Oven is the perfect appliance for busy households like yours. It’s the brand’s largest capacity Air fryer. It fits a 10-lb chicken or a 13-in pizza, making it the ideal size for entertaining guests or preparing food for big families.

Another thing we like is the Digital Temperature Probe. Thanks to it, you can monitor your food’s internal temperature. So you’re guaranteed that the meals you serve your family are safe. No need to worry about overcooked or undercooked dishes. More detail on that in a moment.

By the way, some Ninja Foodis also have a Smart Thermometer that makes things a lot easier, so they’re worth checking out.

Features of the Nuwave Bravo Air Fryer Oven

For the most part, the Nuwave Bravo Air Fryer Oven is much like other air fryer toaster ovens in its class. However, it does have a few stellar features that are worth mentioning.

Built-In Smart Temperature Probe

The biggest problem amateur and home cooks have is undercooking or overcooking their food. Many people eat undercooked food that could potentially be unsafe. Likewise, overcooking foods can make them dry and ruin their flavor.

The great thing about the smart probe is that when your food reaches the designated core temperature the oven will shut off on its own, preventing overcooking. Meanwhile, the unit will continue cooking past the timer if the core temperature hasn’t been reached.

This means the Nuwave Bravo XL Oven is a fool-proof way to make roasts, pork chops, steaks, and more, even if you’re not familiar with cooking those items.

Not sure what temperatures your cooked food should be? I found this resource from the USDA to help you.

Interior Light

Some air fryer toaster ovens don’t have an interior light, although some do have a viewing window. With the interior light, you can easily monitor your recipes to ensure that they cook the right amount of time. To me, this is a must-have feature in today’s air fryer toaster ovens. It is particularly helpful when baking cookies or other items that can vary in cooking time.

XL Capacity, Not XL Footprint

nuwave1

You can tell by the name of this product that it has a larger capacity than most air fryer toaster ovens. How big is it? You can fit an entire 9×13 casserole or a 12-inch pizza into the air fryer oven. Of course, this means that you need additional counter space over what a traditional toaster oven requires. Still, for the capacity the footprint of the Nuwave Bravo XL 20801 is surprising.

What can you cook in Nuwave Bravo?

The manufacturer of the Nuwave Bravo XL 20801 claims to have 100 pre-programmed recipe settings plus extra 50 slots for your personal favorite settings. I hear you when you say that it sounds confusing. Having too many programs can be puzzling.

Anyway, here are the specific 12 Preset Cooking Functions.

The presets help you leave out the guesswork in preparing your dishes. The time and temperature are fixed to a standard setting for a particular recipe, but they’re all adjustable. It’ll all depend on the size and weight of your ingredients and your personal preference.

Let me show you a Pork Chop Recipe from the brand:

Dial Your Perfect Toast

Suppose your family has a different preference on their toast darkness level. In that case, you will surely make everyone happy because this appliance allows you to choose between 10 shades of toast darkness.

Dehydrate Feature

Additionally, the Nuwave Bravo XL Smart Oven also has a dehydrate function. You can make your own dried herbs and spices and impress your family with fruit and veggie preserves. Who would have thought that you could make all these with one appliance?

No Rotisserie Feature

I wish this Nuwave Bravo XL 1800 Watt Convection Oven has rotisserie attachments and function. Yes, you can roast and bake poultry or ribs with this appliance. However, a rotisserie function would be a fantastic bonus. Don’t you think the same?

Is the Nuwave Bravo XL easy to use?

This appliance has touch buttons to control presets and a turn dial that sets temperature and cooking time. Unfortunately, I find that too many buttons and presets make the Nuwave Bravo confusing to operate.

Nuwave Bravo controls

Let me explain:

To operate this air fryer oven, you have to press several buttons repeatedly in a particular sequence to get to your preset.

control panel

For instance, if you want to use the broil preset, you must press the menu button seven times to reach the broil function. If you’re going to adjust the default temperature of a preset, press the temperature button first before turning the dial.

To help you picture this, there’s a brief video explanation from the brand on how to use the menu button below.

In spite of this, I think this air fryer oven is still easy enough to use for a teenager to make their own snacks. As long as you show them which menu buttons to operate, it’s easy enough to bake cookies, pizzas, and other oven-ready snacks in the Nuwave Bravo XL Oven.

Something new in this model is the Integrated Digital Temperature Probe. Thanks to this added feature, you can set the desired doneness of your steak or other meat. With the help of the temperature probe, you can constantly monitor the internal temperature of your food.

This ensures that you’ll have a perfectly cooked meal every time! The digital probe’s default temperature is 165ºF, but you can adjust it according to your preference.

Integrated Digital Temperature Probe Demonstration

One more thing I want to mention about ease of use is in reference to the brand’s claims that you do not have to use oil when air frying. In my experience, some oil is required to crisp potatoes. There really isn’t a way around this. Still, you don’t need much. Spraying with a butter-flavored cooking spray could be sufficient, depending on the size, cut, and density of your potatoes.

Is the Nuwave Bravo XL Smart Oven easy to clean?

As I mentioned, this air fryer oven is a great appliance to have in your kitchen. You can use it for cooking a variety of different dishes. As it’s easy to clean, you have to be careful when cleaning your Nuwave Toaster Oven.

Make sure to unplug the appliance and let it cool before cleaning. The oven walls can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild liquid soap.

Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or scouring pads, as they may damage the surface.

The icing on the cake?

The parts and accessories are dishwasher safe. This means that you can save time and effort by simply loading the components in the dishwasher.

Remember to empty and clean the Crumb Tray after each use. If there’s stubborn residue or grease, you can soak the accessories, racks, and trays in hot, soapy water.
