How to Make Celery Juice Taste Good

My secret to making celery juice taste good are four ingredients: green apple, pineapple, lemon, and ginger root.

For my celery juice recipe, I add one green apple which adds a little sweetness. If you don’t like green apples but like other apples, you are certainly free to substitute. Honeycrisp apples are a popular substitute.

My recipe also calls for pineapple. Pineapple adds its own a sweetness kick to my celery juice recipe. It is very soft and may clog your juicer, however. One trick to help prevent this is to alternate between softer produce like pineapple and more firm produce like apple and ginger.

Adding a green apple, pineapple chunks, lemon, and ginger to your celery juice will help greatly with the flavor.

The second trick is to use lemon. You could also use lime, but lemon is excellent and is going to add a little bit of that tart flavor to balance some of the celery taste.

And then for a spicy kick, I add ginger. All I do is cut about a 1 inch piece of ginger and peel it.

And that’s it! Those are my four favorite ingredients to make celery juice taste good. Want to go that extra mile, throw in a few pieces of cucumber! I sometimes use it when I make this recipe but it is not required to create a delicious celery juice beverage.

Benefits of Celery Juice

There are several benefits of drinking celery juice. We cover this in some detail on our How to Make Celery Juice article. The main benifits I cover in this article is hydration, X, and Y.

Hydration

When you juice celery, you end up with a lot of water, which is primarily what fruits and vegetables are made of. The water you get from juicing fruits and vegetables will definitely going to help with hydration.

We use cucumber in this recipe, which is also primarily water. So we get a lot of hydration from that as well.

Gut Health

Celery juice is also excellent for your gut health. Fruits and vegetables contain a lot of fiber. The way I describe it to my clients is that fiber binds to the bad bacteria in your gut and then allows you to eliminate it. This also helps you by reducing bloating.

A lot of people complain about being bloated. Celery juice, may help you decrease bloating in your digestive system.

Vitamins & Nutrients

There are a lot of vitamins and nutrients in items using in this recipe.

Celery is full of vitamin K. This recipe also calls for spinach, which is also full of vitamin K and iron.

We use pineapple, lemon, and apple in this recipe, which contain vitamin C. And as you probably know, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that also promotes your immune system.

Tips & Suggestions

  1. Buy chopped pineapple to save time. I’ve found when I don’t, I don’t make this celery juice recipe as much as I’d like.
  2. Use real ginger root. It can last months in your refrigerator and it tastes better–and is more nutritious–than powdered ginger.
  3. If this recipe still doesn’t do it for you, try adding mint.
