Power XL Juicer claims to be a self-cleaning juicing machine. Or is it?
For starters, As Seen On TV products, are almost always exaggerated. So let’s see if it’s just false advertising or indeed a fact.
Based on a video review, which I will be sharing down below. The self-cleaning tool is pretty much like a windshield wiper. It scrapes the food particles off the inner mesh, but it’s not good enough. A ton of fibers and residue are still on the filter basket.
There’s no shortcut to cleaning up that mess other than using a brush, not to mention that most of the pulp are stuck at the top of the lid and pulp guard.
So lady’s and gents. It’s not really self-cleaning. Self-cleaning is impossible with any juicer. It’s just a buzzword that will surely catch the attention of viewers. And it’s working well for Tristar Products.
Power Juicer XL is the most popular juice extractor at the moment.
The closest thing to a self-cleaning juicer is Hurom H101. It doesn’t have a mesh basket which most of the fibers and food particles get stuck, making it super easy to clean.
Though PowerXL is not really self-cleaning, thankfully, all of its removable parts are top-rack dishwasher safe. Plus, the brand thoughtfully included a cleaning brush with your purchase.

Power XL Juicer Features
Is It Easy to Use?
High-speed juicers like PowerXL are relatively simple machines. It’s straightforward to operate. Since it comes with a big chute, you don’t need to cut some of your fruits and vegetables that would fit its 2.5-inch diameter.
Another advantage of a centrifugal juicer is speed. A glass of juice would only take a few seconds to make. In fact, this is the type of machine that I would recommend for beginners. It’s fast, affordable, and user-friendly.
Is It Easy to Clean?
Now, here’s the tricky part.
If you’ve seen this product on TV, it’s marketed as a self-cleaning juicer.
My first thought is, it’s impossible, but it got me curious. So, I did some digging, and here’s what I found out.
You still have to wash it. The self-cleaning feature is pretty much a marketing strategy.
And guess what? When you purchase the Power XL juicer, you’ll get a complimentary brush.
On the bright side, it’s safe to run in your dishwasher.

Juice Quality
When it comes to retaining nutrients and yield, PowerXL self-cleaning juicer is not any better. Based on the video above, the end result is a little too foamy, it’s paler, and the taste is not on par with a cold-pressed juice.
That’s exactly what you’ll get with a centrifugal juicer, and that’s not just PowerXL. High-speed juicers introduce a lot of air which breaks down some of the nutrients, a process called oxidation.
And that is the reason why juice extracted by centrifugal juicing machine only last for 24 hours.
What Kinds of Produce Can the Power XL Self-Cleaning Juicer Process?
PowerXL will work best on dense produce and citruses.
Dense produce includes yakon, asparagus, pear, turmeric, watermelon, celery, bitter gourd, sweet potato, fennel, broccoli, pepper, cilantro, pumpkin, carrots, beets, pineapple, garlic, cauliflower, cucumber, apple, ginger, etc.
Citrus fruits include tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, pomegranate, orange and lime. By the way, you’ll have to remove the rind and seeds before juicing any of these.
Can it Juice Leafy Greens?
Yes, but it’s not as efficient as slow juicers. It’s not the best machine for making green juices.
Can it Make Soy Milk?
Unfortunately, you can’t make nut-based milk alternatives with a centrifugal juicing machine like the Power Juicer XL.

Verdict
If you’re more of a centrifugal juicer person, there’s no stopping you from getting the Power XL Self-Cleaning Juicer. It’s an affordable alternative to Breville Juice Fountain Plus.
PowerXL is a great option for beginners, but if you’re not new to juicing, you should get either a cold press juicer or a masticating juicer.
