I don’t have a great first impression with the KOIOS Juicer. To be honest, the design looks awkward. This product will probably won’t go well with Marie Kondo.

Anyways, after wrapping up this review, I found the KOIOS Juicer a worthy contender in the masticating juicer market. It’s a functional machine but way cheaper.

Let’s forget the Omega 8006 nutrition center for a moment, and let’s take the newer CNC80 series as a point of comparison.

Well, you’ll obviously won’t get all those other food processing functions offered by Omega, but the KOIOS Juicer is way cheaper. It’s almost half the price of the CNC80 series, it’s cheapest horizontal masticating juice extractor.

The KOIOS Slow Juicer is purely a juicing machine. It can’t puree soft fruits or perform other non-juicing tasks. However, in terms of juicing extraction power, it occupies the same territory as any other horizontal masticating juicer bearing the Omega mark.

So if you’re just looking for a juicer, the KOIOS brand is worth considering.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Can process a wide variety of fruits and vegetables—dense produce, leafy greens, and citruses
  • Higher juice yield than centrifugal juicers
  • Longer shelf life (up to 72 hours)
  • Equipped with buttons for controlling pressure depending on the type of produce
  • Quiet operation
  • BPA free parts

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with a blank cone which gives a masticating juicer the ability to process soft mushy fruits and perform homogenizing and other food processing functions
  • May overheat when juicing fibrous fruits and vegetables
  • Not dishwasher safe
  • Slow juice extraction time and requires a decent amount of prep time due to its small chute opening
  • Not handle at all
  • This is a relatively new company in the kitchen equipment niche

KOIOS Juicer Features

Is it easy to use?

If you’re familiar with how a masticating juicing machine operates, KOIOS Slow Juicer is no different. You just need to attach a total of five parts to the motor base (drum, hopper, auger, juicing screen, end cap), plus three detached components (pusher, juice jug, and pulp collector); then you can get those juices flowing.

As an added convenience, it has two options for more fine-grained pressure control. The hard setting is perfect for fibrous veggies like carrots, ginger, beets, etc. I have to warn you though that the soft setting is not intended for soft mushy fruits like banana, berries, avocado, etc. Rather, it’s designed for less dense produce such as apples, pears, cucumber, and so on.

Is the KOIOS Juicer easy to clean?

It’s not dishwasher safe, you’ll have to wash it manually, however it should not take you longer than five minutes, though.

You’ll probably spend the most time cleaning the juicing screen. Pay close attention to the food particles which got stuck in its crevices. You have to deal with it using the complimentary cleaning brush.

That’s all there is to it. Most of the parts are just small and manageable in comparison to high-speed juicers.

Juice Quality

This BPA free juicer excels both in juice extraction efficiency and nutrient retention. At 80 RPM, it extracts juice from fruits and vegetables without incorporating loads of oxygen. Thus, it just causes minimal oxidation in comparison to centrifugal juice makers.

A cold-pressed juice can typically last for up to three days. It will retain most of the nutrients when stored properly.

What kinds of produce can the KOIOS Juicer take?

This Koios Juicer can handle a broad range of fruits and veggies—dense produce, citruses, and leafy greens.

With the hard setting, it can take on fibrous vegetables such as carrots, ginger, beets, sweet potato, celery, yakon, pumpkin, turmeric, etc.

Using the soft setting, it can efficiently process more delicate produce such as apples, cucumber, watermelon, pears, asparagus, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower, and citruses which include (but not limited to) mandarin, lemons, oranges, tangerine, grapefruit, and lime.

This KOIOS Masticating Juicer is an excellent machine for making green juices. It’s suitable for extracting juice from Moringa, cabbage, spinach, beet greens, kale, collard greens, spring onion, peppermint, brussels sprout, lettuce, parsley, dandelion greens, basil, and wheatgrass.

Sadly, it doesn’t have a blank cone just like other top of the line masticating juicers. Don’t expect it to puree soft fruits and homogenize food for you.

Is KOIOS Juicer worth it?

The KOIOS Juicer is far from perfect, but it does the job. It belongs to a rare breed of cheap masticating juicers which can deliver. It can help you make basic juice recipes and as well as green juices. It’s also a great standalone celery juicer.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this product to both beginners and experienced juicers.
