The CHEF CS600 is a commercial-grade, whole slow juicer by Kuvings. This juicer, made by the Korean kitchen equipment manufacturer, is the only commercial-grade vertical masticating juice extractor in the consumer market.
And this is just the beginning of the CHEF Series. There are two more upcoming models in this pro lineup: the Kuvings Master Chef CS700, and the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer Pro CS520SM.
This last is the home version, but I highly recommend the CS600 for families over the CS520SM model. The most significant difference is that the CS520SM can only run for 30 minutes before you have to turn it off to cool.
The big difference (to me, at least) between the CS600 and the CS700 models from Kuvings is that the CS700 models are NSF certified, which means that your customers can rest assured your equipment is safe and sanitary.
This machine comes with an industrial-grade motor which enables it to operate continuously for up to 24 hours, but you still have to swap out the toppers and clear the pulp completely more regularly than this. More on that in a moment.
The Kuvings Chef CS600 Juicer handles all types of produce. You won’t need to cut your fruits and veggies into small pieces. It can crunch larger portions with its large chute profile and drum design. Some foods without large pits won’t even need a precutting.
It also comes with an extra top set which will allow a quick transition between recipes. If you use this in a commercial setting, your team can rinse the upper assembly for the next recipe while you continue to juice. But if you have a regularly busy juice bar you should consider buying additional toppers so that you can have one team member constantly cleaning them between uses.
Kuvings CHEF CS600 Features
The Kuvings CHEF CS600 features the following:
60 RPM Motor
While faster is normally better, that isn’t the case when it comes to juicing. The low-speed masticating juicer produces cold-pressed juice with less oxidation, less heat, less foam, more nutrients, and better taste. That’s the advantage of a slower RPM motor.
Ventilated Brushless Motor Design
The ventilated brushless motor design allows quiet 24-hour operation. This means that you can keep juicing for your customers (or yourself) as long as you desire and it will not be disruptive with noise. Many juicers are not able to run as long or as quietly as the Kuvings CHEF.
Large Feed Chutes
The 3.5-inch feed chute with a flip gate allows you to quickly toss in ingredients. It is also gravity-fed, which means you don’t have to push the produce down into the juicer after you toss it in.
Even though you don’t have to dice your produce for this juicer, I noticed that by cutting my produce into fourths before tossing it in the chute, I was able to produce a higher juice yield.
There is also an additional feed chute opening for long vegetables like celery, and a smaller chute for smaller ingredients. You can throw celery and carrots in whole as well, but you’ll get higher juice yield if you chop them down into one-inch chunks.
Strainers for Pulp Control
There are two strainers for varying coarseness that will allow you to control how much pulp you get in your juice. If you’re running a busy juice bar you might want to get additional strainers to be at the ready for whatever pulp level your customers require.
Drip-Free Smart Cap
There is a silicone base at the bottom that keeps you from losing juice from the bottom of the unit. It has a drip-free smart cap as well, also silicone.
The only place juice can excrete is the extract point, which makes it easier to keep your counters clean and ready for customers.
Two Hoppers for Continuous Use
The Kuvings CHEF CS600 comes with two toppers that you can switch out as needed for continuous use in a busy juice bar. Each topper can process about 2 liters of juice before it needs to be cleaned.
One of the best features of the Kuvings CHEF whole slow juicer is that it has an anti-clogging chamber. This is important if you run a juice shop because time is always of the essence. The small reservoir ensures that the machine can’t clog. If the pulp doesn’t come out like it is supposed to, the reservoir will keep the juicer from clogging to the point that it needs to be taken apart.
This feature works best when you juice slowly. Adding produce too fast also gives lower yield and make more frequent cleaning necessary.

Is it easy to use?
Setting up the CHEF CS600 slow juicer was a piece of cake, very straightforward and simple. Once you do it a few times you’ll have no trouble throwing it together and taking it apart as needed.
If it isn’t put together correctly the machine will not work for safety reasons. There are lots of markings to help you line it up correctly.
CHEF CS600 Juicer was optimized for business applications. It may sound complex, but it’s not that difficult to use. It works the same way as a typical household juicer. Kuvings just replaced the motor with an industrial one and made it more durable to withstand prolonged usage. That’s all there is to it.
There are a few features that make this juicer very easy to operate in a busy kitchen. The lid is transparent, so you can easily monitor what is going on in your juicer even if you have to walk away for a moment.
Meanwhile, the flip gate on the chutes makes it easy, safe, and mess-free to drop in ingredients to allow for multitasking. This is a huge time saver, as well as keeping your lines moving.

Among these is that the hopper must be cleaned out every 20 minutes or after every quart of juice. This is because it will begin to clog and you will lose some of your juice with the pulp out the back end of the machine into the juicing bowl.

What kinds of produce can it juice?
This Kuvings juicer can handle all types of produce—soft and hard produce, leafy greens, citrus fruits, beans, and nuts alike.
Hard produce includes fennel, sweet potato, pineapple, cucumber, cilantro, garlic, cauliflower, bitter gourd, turmeric, asparagus, pepper, celery, watermelon, ginger, carrots, beets, yakon, broccoli, apple, pear, coconut, and pumpkin.
Leafy greens include brussels sprouts, pine tree needles, kale, collard greens, cabbage, spinach, parsley, spring onion, moringa, basil, dandelion greens, wheatgrass, peppermint, lettuce, and beet greens.
Use the small feeding chute for fibrous produce and leafy greens. Cut the carrots, celery, leafy greens, and other tough fruits and veggies lengthwise to maximize juice extraction efficiency.
Citrus fruits include lemon, mandarin, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, and orange.
You can also puree soft produce such as grapes, blackberry, mango, melon, kiwifruit, papaya, tomato, peach, avocado, strawberry, pomegranate, and cranberries using this machine. Just don’t forget to remove the pits and seeds when the situation calls for it.
You can further expand your healthy drink menu by offering non-dairy milk alternatives. You can usually make nut milk out of a slow juicer, provided the nuts and beans have been soaked overnight.
Is it easy to clean?
For the record, this machine is not dishwasher safe, but it’s pretty much easy to clean. The extra top set has an advantage. Your staff can rinse the used part and have it ready for the next recipe. The pulp build-up needs to be cleared out to ensure maximum juice yield.
When closing your shop, you need to clean it thoroughly. Have your team prepare warm water with generous amounts of dishwashing soap or baking soda; it’s all up to you. Soak the detachable parts for 30 minutes, then gently scrub them to remove excess pulp.
Cleaning this juicer is much easier than its competitors. The specialized cleaning tool and brushes are designed specifically for this juicer, making cleanup a breeze. The grates are very easy to scrub clean if you do it frequently as you should. In fact, if you have a full kitchen dish line with an industrial sprayer, you can probably spray out the parts in a hurry rather than scrubbing.

Is Kuvings CHEF CS600 worth it?
The Kuvings Commercial Whole Slow Juicer CHEF CS600 isn’t cheap. It’s not intended for household use to begin with. But in comparison, it’s as expensive as the Angel Juicer.
I’m not going through all those nice features in this wrap-up. I want to end this on a note that the Kuvings Chef CS600 is the best investment for nutrition-oriented restaurants and juice bars.
