Authors Note:

I decided recently that it’s long past time to revamp our reviews of the Kuvings Juicers. Why? Because the company had released a few new juicers since our initial review of their juicers in 2019. Also, the Kuvings cold press juicer lineup have generally been innovative relative to the general market. Their most popular innovation, the wide-chute feeder, reduces prep time needed to juice. This makes it easy to juice – all you have to do with most produce is toss it in the juicer.

But competitors have begun to catch up by introducing other wide-chute slow juicers. I determined we needed to revamp this post to look more closely at the other features that separate Kuvings from the other juicers–as well as re-examine the pros and cons of the B6000 and other Kuvings Juicers.

Kuvings now has several lines of whole slow juicers with the 3-inch wide feeding chute, but the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000 line is the product that started the trend. This well-developed product line is reliable, easy-to-use and less expensive than some other Kuvings juicers.

This is a great, no-frills whole slow juicer from one of the best names in the business. You’ll enjoy the versatile nature of this device, which with the proper attachments will allow you to make smoothies and sorbets, in addition to juicing. The 3-inch wide feeding chute is a big help. The manufacturer claims it reduces prep time by 40 percent.

The Kuvings B6000 Whole Slow Juicer was the very first big mouth vertical masticating juice extractor. It features a three-inch feed chute that accommodates items such as apples, without the need to cut them into smaller slices (at least that’s how it looks).

In reality, you still have to chop most produce into pieces, so the ‘big mouth innovation’ is basically a marketing ploy.

The auger operates slowly at 60 RPM, which is slower than standard masticating juice extractors on the market. The motor produces less heat during operation as a result of its slow operation. This slow process preserves nutrients and vitamins. Essential enzymes are preserved with a slow juicing process versus the oxidation that occurs with fast juicers.

The juicer is “kinda” lightweight, weighting about 14 pounds. It could use a handle but doesn’t have one.

As an vertical juicer, it does have a smaller footprint than horizontal masticating juicers. So it fits nicely in smaller kitchens. This juicing machine uses 240 watts and 120 volts of power but operates more quietly than traditional masticating juicers thanks to the slower RPMs.

Features

Overview of the Kuvings B6000 smart cap, smoothie strainer, and more.

cap

Smart Cap

The Kuvings Smart Cap prevents juice from spilling out onto your kitchen counter top. No need to replace one cup or pitcher with another. Just close the cap and the juice stops flowing.

Want to mix juice from multiple types of produce? Just leave the Smart Cap closed to allow the juices to mix. When you are finished juicing, open the cap and allow the juice to drain into your cup.

sorbet maker

Sorbet Strainer

I must admit that I don’t eat a lot of sorbet. I’ve tried it a few times after making it with a Ninja CREAMi. But using the B6000’s blank strainer frozen sorbet maker attachment is much easier to use than the CREAMi.

Best of all it’s not something you must buy separately. It is included in every box!

smoothie strainer

Smoothie Strainer

I found the Kuvings B6000 to be adept at making smoothies as well as advertised.

Again, using this feature is quite simple. Insert the smoothie strainer, close the smart cap, then add frozen fruit and milk.

The closed smart cap allows the milk and pureed frozen fruit to mix. When you are ready, open the cap and the contents will pour into your cup.

3 inch chute

Large Chute

I love large chutes. One of the reasons I love fast juicers is because they typically have large chutes that mean less pre work.

A main selling point of the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000 is its larger feed chute, which allows it to accommodate larger pieces of produce. It won’t eliminate the chopping you’ll need to do to prepare some produce for processing, but it will have you chopping less often, depending on what type of produce you’re juicing.

But Kuvings (and a few others) have brought the large chute feature to their vertical masticating juicers. The B6000 features a 3-inch chute. This isn’t the largest we’ve seen, but it’s still big enough to fit an entire small apple.

One neat thing about the B6000 is it has a translucent hopper, so you can see your produce being juiced. It may not be too exciting to read about, but I found myself probably too interested in watching the the B6000 as it slowly pulverizes apples, nuts, and other produce. 😝

Other Features

  • Safety Shut Off – You cannot run the juicer if it is not properly assembled, and it also has a shut-off mechanism to keep the juicer from overheating
  • Cleaning Tools – the Kuvings B6000 comes with cleaning tools to keep your juicing clean and usable for years

BPA Free

Another item sure to cheer the hearts of the health-conscious is the fact that the device is made of BPA-free components. Additionally, every plastic component that comes into contact with the produce and juice is BPA-free. Buyers won’t have to worry about harmful device components touching their food in any way, shape, or form.

A Missing Feature – Not Dishwasher Safe

With regard to cleaning, please be aware that the Kuvings B6000 is not dishwasher-safe. You should, instead, break down the device and wash by hand when necessary. As I’ve mentioned, the juicer comes with some handy brushes and a specialized cleaning tool. You can use them to clean the mesh juice strainer. After you clean the juicer a few times, the process gets much faster. There are only about five or six parts and they need to be washed by hand.

If you want to cut down on cleaning time, use the green cleaning tool that comes with it. All you have to do is slip it on over the mesh juice strainer and rotate it back and forth to brush the screen free of excess pulp.

Honestly, I don’t place any of my juicer or air fryer components in a dishwasher. I’ve found over the years they just last longer if I hand wash them. But for many time-starved people, the fact that the B6000 isn’t dishwasher safe will be a deal-killer.

Cleaning Tips for the B6000
  1. Make sure to remove the pulp completely from the screen and check the auger for any remaining pulp. If pulp dries on the parts, especially the screen, it hardens and becomes difficult to remove. I’ve done this before on another juicer and it was a pain to get cleaned later.
  2. The additional brushes are helpful when cleaning the other parts as well. Wash everything as soon as you finish making your juice, nut milk or sorbet. Place the components into a sink full of warm, soapy water.
  3. Even if you have to run out of the door quickly in the morning, rinse the juicer down, and scrub the pulp out of the juicer screen.

Capabilities

Processing Capabilities of the B6000

The B6000 line of juicers are quite versatile and can process a wide range of produce, including leafy greens and nuts. Soft and hard produce, citrus fruits, and beans are also processable by this Kuvings cold press juicer. However, buyers should be informed that while the B6000 can process leafy greens, it’s not great at it. If you plan on processing a lot of leafy greens on their own, you may want to investigate another masticating juicer that operates at a lower RPM.

In addition to cold pressed juice, the Kuvings B6000 can also make frozen fruit desserts and a variety of nut milks. This versatility is a good selling point for the B6000 – it makes a variety of healthy drinks and desserts easily accessible.

Carrots

Hard Produce

The B6000 easily juices hard produce. Hard produce includes things like pear, cauliflower, celery, carrots, apple, yakon, garlic, cilantro, beets, cucumber, sweet potato, asparagus, ginger, bitter gourd, pepper, pumpkin, watermelon, broccoli, turmeric, pineapple and fennel.

leafy okay

Leafy Greens

Though this cold press juicer can process leafy greens, a 60 RPM upright masticating juicer is not ideal for juicing wheatgrass and green leafy vegetables on its own. Don’t get me wrong here, it still outperforms centrifugal juicers but it’s just not as efficient as horizontal masticating juicers. Newer vertical masticating juicers running half that speed (43 RPM) can now process leafy greens and wheatgrass at a more efficient rate.

Leafy greens include dandelion greens, basil, cabbage, moringa, lettuce, brussels sprout, peppermint, collard greens, spring onion, parsley, wheatgrass, spinach, beet greens, kale.

Carrots

Soft Produce/Citrus

This masticating juicers does a great job at processing soft produce, including citrus. Citrus fruits include lemon, mandarin, orange, lime, grapefruit and tangerine.

You can also puree soft produce such as kiwifruit, grapes, pomegranate, avocado, peach, mango, melon, cranberries, blackberry, strawberry, tomato and papaya using this machine.

Nut Milk

You can also use this machine for making soy and almond milk, aka nut milk. You’ll want to use soaked almonds and soybeans if you do this, however.

However, it does have a smaller footprint than horizontal masticating juicers and fits nicely in smaller kitchens. This juicing machine uses 240 watts and 120 volts of power but operates more quietly than traditional masticating juicers thanks to the slower RPMs.

Early risers can relax knowing they won’t wake those sleeping as they create their healthy morning juice.

Is The Kuvings B6000 Easy to Use?

The Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer B6000 Series easier to use than many electric juicers because it can accommodate larger pieces of produce. Assembly does not take any longer than a minute after you have put it together a few times.

Simply line up the red dots to properly put them together. It is equipped with a dual safety system that automatically prevents overheating.

If it becomes overheated, it will turn off. Line up the dot on the pusher with the dot on the machine and gently apply pressure to help items like apples catch on the auger. Other items will slide right into the auger blades.

If you prefer to keep the cap shut, you can mix your juices inside while you juice. If you jam the machine by feeding it too much at a time, then turn it off and reverse the direction of the auger to free the items.

Juice Quality

If you’re looking for high-quality juice that takes minimal time to prepare but is still extracted using the cold-press method, then Kuvings B6000 might be a good fit.

With its two-step, extraction process juice from produce are extracted without damaging the essential enzymes and vitamins. Once the auger blade crushes the produce, it presses it against the juice strainer.

The pulp is then expelled, leaving you with tasty juice that is chock full of nutrients. Some users complain about the pulp content, but strain the juice with a sieve or pour it back through the juicer to remove the remaining pulp.

Also, operating at about 60 RPM, the slowly rotating auger extracts a high yield of juice from vegetables, fruits, and even from leafy greens. An added benefit when using Kuvings B6000 juicer is the juice has an extended shelf life.

Sure, you should drink your juice immediately to absorb the highest amount of nutrients, but you may find it useful to know that you can store it for later consumption.

Store it in the refrigerator for up to 72 hours. You can take your fresh juice on the go, but make sure to keep it cold to preserve the rich flavor of the juice.

Use a glass container with a tightly sealed lid for the best results. You can use a plastic or stainless steel container instead of glass.

Is Kuvings B6000 worth it?

The Kuvings B6000 Whole Slow Juicer is an efficient and versatile juicer that not only makes delicious juice full of phytonutrients but also comes with a blank screen to make nut butter and tasty sorbets to satisfy that sweet tooth craving.

No other vertical masticating juicer released by Kuvings comes with this option. If you like to juice leafy greens on their own, then a twin gear or horizontal masticating juicer would be a better option.

Alternate the greens with dense vegetables because the greens need something hard to push them through the juice maker.

The wide feed chute is an excellent addition and allows you to put larger pieces of apples, oranges, saving you time on preparation. The juice cap is also a nice feature, allowing you to mix juice inside and prevent spills or drips on the counter.

This juicer is a slower juicer, so if you’re expecting it to produce a high volume of juice in a matter of seconds, then a centrifugal juicer might be a better option.

You have to consider the trade-off if you choose a fast juicer instead. A slow juicer is quiet and produces a high yield of juice with tons of nutrients. A fast juicer is very loud, produces a lower quantity and fewer nutrients.

However, fresh juice straight from a juicer is better for you than store-bought juice. If you’re looking for a powerful, masticating juicer for everyday juicing, then the Kuvings B6000 may just be the one for you.

Wrap Up

For folks new to juicing or those who want a relatively simple, but reliable juicer, the Kuvings B6000 is a good investment. It’s easy to use, less expensive than other Kuvings products and makes great juice. It’s an excellent way to start your juicing journey or a simple way to stay on the path.
